I know Tony feels so bad about Jackie Jr, but he literally did everything he could. At every single point, he tried to warn him and make him fly straight, and the kid refused to do it.

I wonder if Tony had gone into the city for that meeting, if he would've returned. Chase mentioned he had orginally intended to end the series after 5 seasons with a final shot of Tony driving thru the tunnel as he's on his way to a sit down w/ Johnny in the city...maybe it was for this sit down...?
