A don doesn't wear shorts

I no longer understand Tony's motivations. S3 showed that he was moving money with the Russians to his offshore accounts. Paulie suspected something was going on but he didn't know what.

Now in s4e1, Tony is hurting financially and now he's trying to trick his uncle into selling him valuable property for little or nothing, cause he knows Junior doesn't know it's true worth.

Plus it looks like he just set Chris up.

He's coming off very self serving now, like all he's thinking about at this point is himself and his own future.

Without going into Tony's motivations (which will become clear), in S3 he was moving money because:

- He knew that at some point the day to day income was going to dry up.
- It's his back-up plan for when/if the Feds come knocking OR if he gets popped Carmella will be the only one who gets access to it.

At this point it should also be clear that Tony simply lives above his means. From the house to the shyt he buys to keep Carmella happy to the gambling and the hoes, nobody else movies like him and other people, including his crew, notice this for sure.

Very self servicing….greed means there’s never enough. Also the time period of S4 was after 9/11 during an economic recession.

Plus Tony sees Junior struggling bc of his case and knows that could be him at any point.

damn…I should finish up “vikings” today (I’m bailing after S4)…I’ll probably check this out next

Nothing like The Sopranos at all but def good. S1 was good but I preferred S2. Imperioli is in S2.

more of a dark humor that artistically analyzes class divide in S1 and then infidelity in S2.

is it a “mafia” or organized crime show?

I have no idea what the premise is so I was just curious cuz he’s in but didn’t know if it was comparable to the sopranos or not

S2 eventually has a smaller portion that involves the mafia as they’re in Sicily

I edited my last post with a little more insight. But essentially it’s a dark humor about wealthy ppl that vacation at a resort called White Lotus and while there, their experiences analyze class divide $ colonialism (S1 in Hawaii) and infidelity (S2 in Sicily). Good character analysis, S1 was more humorous, S2 was more suspenseful/tension build up.

One of the better HBO shows from the last 3-5 years. I liked it more than succession & winning time, and just under Euphoria, which I think is HBO’s best current show.

If you want a mafia show, I beg everyone here to watch Gomorra & ZeroZeroZero.

S1 & S2 of Gomorra are near-Sopranos level GOAT tier shyt.
