HBO had the GOAT TV lineup when they had Sopranos, The Wire, and Deadwood. We'll never see a lineup like that again.

Boardwalk and GoT are a great lineup, but i'm not really feeling all these other political and quirky shows they got on right now.

hell they even had Entourage going on at that same time..

still :beli: @ them for cancelling how to make it in america.

comparing sopranos to wire is like comparing greg maddux career to pedro martinez, specifically pedro martinez in 98/99... at it's best, the sopranos (Pedro) at it's peak >>> Wire at it's peak...maddux never had a season like pedro in 98 (an example... sopranos did "oh s*t" moments better..... but overall, Greg maddux (wire) was the better show when you factor in consistency and start to finish, just better.... so from start to finish the correct answer is the wire.... but no single wire moment touches the best soprano moments... bodies death comes close, stringers death.. omars was underwhelming...

wire is better. sopranos would go off on a tangent with those dream episodes sometimes. the wire just would get straight to the point with total realism. greatest show ever.

Sopranos whole premise was getting into the mind of a Mob boss. The show starts off with him having panic attacks. Sopranos whole show was based on the psychology of tony soprano, of course its gonna have a lot of dream sequences.

The Wire wins by a large margin for me, which testament to its brilliance considering that the Sopranos is a really excellent show in its own right:myman:

The wire BY FAR had the more dynamic characters

With that being said I found The Sopranos slightly more interesting. The way in which the writers peeled the onion back on the hypocrisy of mob life, over the top bigotry, evaluation of manhood & the nuts/bolts of mob life from a more grounded perspective

The wire was pretty straight forward for the most part. The motives at play concerning everyone in The Sopranos. Everything was subject to change & reliant on variables. Everything was fluid

The Wire had the all star characters
The Sopranos was the better show

They’re pretty much equal to me. The Wire was better written, but the Sopranos was more entertaining and easier to watch. I can watch the sopranos once a year. Maybe even twice. I need a 2 year break after watching The Wire.
