Yep, if you really break it down the Jersey crew disintegrates significantly every season.

Season 1: Jackie Aprile's death leaves a power vacuum that causes a rift between Tony and Jr leading to a Jersey mob war. Plus there's Puss dissappearing and the murder of Jimmy, who we assume was also a snitch.
Season 2: Tony and Jr are unable to reconcile with Richie Aprile, who would've been got regardless of Janice. Puss gets taken out. Patsy's twin gets murdered.
Season 3: Tony and Ralphie get into it, while at the same time a disgruntled Paulie basically starts snitching to NY.
Season 4: Ralph dies and the Jersey/NY tensions start to escalated because of Paulie's big mouth. Adriana snitching and Chris becomes a junkie. Furio bounces.
Season 5: class of '05. Tony B and Feech are busts and Phil has a direct role in escalating beef between NY and NJ. The death of Adriana creates the final unsolvable rift between Tony and Chris.
Season 6: Tony's coma reveals Sylvio is not boss material. Vito gets outed and murdered. Phil becomes the defacto NY boss. Chris, Bobby and Sylvio get murdered (Syl in a coma). Snitches everywhere.

All of the hardest goons and top earners leave or die or snitch or get estranged from Tony. Very systematic and definitely by design.
