All these theater chains pulling the movie sets such a dangerous precedent.

Seriously.. we're bowing to threats from North Korea now? :camby:

fukking cowards. What ever happened to free speech? America is no better than North Korea at this point.

Let's say a theater did show the flick and it was bombed or whatever.....what kind of lawsuit do you think the theaters and Sony would face? Especially if people watching another movie got injured. Man them fukking lawyers would be all over Regal, Cinemark, AMC, and Sony. They would be fukked

Thank You. These Theaters aren't going to risk something happening or even getting hacked for this Dictator Killing Comedy. It's not worth it. Sony just cut their losses, it was a 44 Million production budget not counting marketing. Again they are weighing the risk. For all 4 of the Major Theater chains to back out in unison sends a big message they don't want the film played cause of the risk of possible retaliation or whatever.

And they have now used special cyber warfare units to institute false-flag attacks on US businesses as the recent one on Sony. The USG Perps have used their Controlled major mass Media to spread the lie that North Korea did it, hoping to motivate the public and Congress to immediately pass very strict laws which will essentially gut any real continuing Internet freedom.

Do not be fooled by this USG False-Flag, it’s just another very crafty attempt to take away more of our essential rights which we need to clean out corruption from the Government and keep it honest, and that is a huge task when corruption is so rampant at every level.

That would never happen man. C'mon now.

The hack has been traced to North Korea....meaning if they start bombing theaters it's an act of war. Kim Jong is crazy, but he's not "let's get my country wiped off the map" crazy. Their military is using shyt from 50 years ago. They don't want a war, on any level.

now Sony's apparently bowing out of any release including Blu-Ray/DVD or streaming/on demand:

Sony Pictures Entertainment has chosen to stand down for “The Interview,” deciding against releasing the Seth Rogen-James Franco comedy in any form — including VOD or DVD, as U.S. officials reportedly link Sony’s massive cyber attack to North Korea.

“Sony Pictures has no further release plans for the film,” a spokesman said Wednesday.

The studio issued the statement a few hours after pulling the planned Christmas Day release of “The Interview” in the U.S. in response to the hackers who threatened a 9/11-style attack against U.S. theaters and moviegoers if the comedy were released.

By late Wednesday afternoon, the studio had removed any mention of “The Interview” from its official web site.

The move could open the door for Sony to sell the rights to a rival distributor — though Hollywood is still reeling from Tuesday’s invocation of a possible terrorist attack on exhibitors if they screened “The Interview.”

Prior to the decision to pull the controversial movie, a Sony Pictures insider had told Variety that the studio was weighing releasing the film on premium video-on-demand. Such a move would have allowed the studio to recoup some of the film’s $42 million budget and tens of millions in promotion and advertising expenditures.

I'll just leave this here.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-405644/George-Bush-assassination-film-wins-award.html

The video which outraged America by depicting the assassination of President George W Bush has won an award at the Toronto film festival.

British director Gabriel Range's "Death of a President" stirred up a strong reaction even before it premiered at the festival, but it won the Prize of the International Critics.

The jury of film critics cited the film "for the audacity with which it distorts reality to reveal a larger truth."

The shocking footage, which you can preview exclusively here, is from a new Channel 4 movie to be broadcast on More4 in October.

"Death of a President" chronicles the sniper shooting of Bush on October 19, 2007, during a trip to Chicago and the ensuing investigation.

The film blends archival footage of Bush interspersed with fierce anti-war protests and other fictional scenes crafted by the filmmakers.

Actors posing as administration officials and Secret Service agents were digitally grafted into some images of the president and his entourage.

The filmmakers said they chose to use Bush rather than substitute a fictitious president to heighten the authenticity.

"I'm thrilled that the film is going to be shown in cinemas in the US in the near future," Mr Range said. "That's proof that people can see beyond the premise and see that it's a film about this post-9/11 world that we live in."

However, the £2million movie sparked controversy in America and the British film-makers had to be guarded by private security men at the film festival after threats were made on their lives.

So what happens now if some of these other extremist groups start making broad threats against movies they don't like? Those movies should all just be cancelled right? If Cinemark knows about the threat of violence that Westboro baptist church made against any random gay rights movie.. Cinemark HAS to pull that movie... Right? The precedent allows these groups who use scare tactics to win and its just dumb. Sony financed and marketed the movie, they should stick behind it. If theaters refuse to show it, put it out on VOD.

This isn't even a legitimate threat of any kind. If indeed this is North Korea were talking about, we all know their threats have no merit.

This is exactly the type of shyt I'm talking about. I'm far from patriotic so this ain't even about America vs North Korea, it's about not setting a dangerous precedent for this type of shyt.

And like I said a sec ago, anybody that thinks North Korea is a legitimate threat to the U.S. has to be drunk. Their military equipment is literally falling apart, the sole reason their military is even the size it is is because Kim Jong dikk rides them so they don't turn on him.
