The US/Europe has more power than I realized with sanctions. 40% of Russia's available money is tied up in other countries' currency and they don't have enough real assets internally to sustain any kind of blocking of trade. All they could do is stop their oil production really, which would be problematic for a few months until eastern Europe pivoted to Middle Eastern oil, which I'm sure Saudi Arabia would be more than happy to provide.

They might fukk around and make Putin disappear if they froze everyone's money and stopped imports to the country. The Russian people aren't even happy with this move. Not really sure what his endgame was here other than to get Ukraine to back down from entering NATO. I mean I get it, you don't want a bunch of people with guns at your front door, but when you do the math it's just posturing.

Outside Putin’s delusional mind who actually wants Russia/Moscow? Europe doesn’t.

Taking land is some 20th century stuff at this point.

The fact Putin can’t just install whoever he wants in Ukraine to give the illusion of independence is probably the biggest show of weakness.

Russian influence outside of Moscow only abides by who they have installed like in Belarus. The fact that it isn’t guaranteed like it used to be is what is scary to them.

Still don't see an invasion happening. My new theory is the US is trying to amp up the invasion talk even though they secretly don't see it happening. This will start to corner Putin so that he feels like he has to tamper things down before he's cornered into a "invade or look like a fraud" position.
