^ Do not buy resume templates. Just google resumes and see which look good and make it yourself on word. Seems like a waste of cash.

Also, make sure you always have legit references especially if they ask for them after an interview or two (they are definitely going to call/email bc they are seriously considering you)

In addition, while this may seem obvious, always call your references AHEAD of time and advise them who may be calling and for what position and the questions that MAY be asked.

And regarding salary negotiations, here's a great answer I found:
"Compensation is certainly important, but I'm really looking for other factors in my next job, too—such as growth potential and making a difference with a great product and team. Perhaps you can you tell me what is budgeted for the position and we can discuss it?"

That is a good answer

And another tip....never give them your former salary. EVER....

No matter how much they pressure you. IF you find them insisting on this they are trying to lowball you

If I am trying to enter a new field with no experience in that particular field should I include related course work on my resume?

What he said.

This guy that works for a big company is offering me a chance to shadow him to potentially gain employment but would like to see my resume first. I have no experience in the field, IT, and have only held one job, my current one. I'm also in school finishing my degree in CS.

Does anyone have a generic cover letter ??

I have limited work experience so I'm having a hard time drafting a cover letter......should I focus more on my academic experience ??

:mjcry: I'm tryna eat brehs

1. Go to Google
2. Type in general cover letter
3. Click Images to see a few examples

I would focus more on the internship or paid or unpaid experience you had in the field you looking to work.

:lupe: How do y'all explain lengthy unemployment in a interview?

How long have you been unemployed for? Usually pleases our concern when it's 3 months or 6 months or more of unemployment.

If possible, include any volunteer work you have done in the meantime, or any online courses you have taken, whether you received a certificate or not.

I don't have much experience in the field, I just graduated, that's what makes it kind of difficult, the vast majority of general cover letters again tends to focus on past work experiences.....
