Wu Tang & Nas never in their career had anywhere near the level of popularity that Bone had at their peak...FOH

There was a span of about 2-3 years where Bone was pretty much the face of rap music.

At no point was Wu-Tang or Nas at the absolute top of the rap game...like Bone was from 94-96

Na, They just had a fukked up contract but were made a priority when Eazy E was alive. Everything came to light once he passed. Those 2 years between East 1999 and The Art of War were crucial. Beefing with the label for more money and trying to get off and then being divided as a group with Bizzy made it worse.

That's just their own tracks and off the top of the dome. We ain't talked about their collaboration tracks, Mo Thug or singles.

At their peak EVERYONE wanted a track with BTNH and I know it may sound strange but those dudes were as hot as 50, Wayne and whoever else you can look at who had "a run".

This is true.

Wu has universal acclaim literally everywhere, while Bone ain't really that known with this current generation, don't be delusional. Thing is that Wu has a lot of so called fans who couldn't name 3 members but they know Wu-Tang as a group and brand and also know few of their songs, and most of Wu fanbase everywhere in the world is like this. But if we're talking true fans I'm sure Bone has more true fans, and I mean people who know songs, lyrics, members, and shyt. Wu-Tang is more of a brand nowadays than music group, they're extremely known in Europe especially, everyone knows Wu, but Bone fanbase atm is mostly in US.

Bone were never bigger than Jay-Z also, lol. Along with 2Pac and Eminem, Hov is the most recognizable person in hip hop of all time.

Breh I've already said it, I'm strictly talking WORLDWIDE. Well, actually Europe and parts of Africa. And again, no cared about BTNH like that over here, certainly not at the levels of Wu, Big, Jay, Snoop, etc. If you've been to other places in Europe where that's the case, cool, but where I've been it's def not. You go to random villages in Poland and you might catch 2pac and Wu-Tang graffitis.

Actually, it's on the Coli that I saw that I understood that groups like Bone Thugs and Outkast are so big in the US. Over here people (even HH heads) don't really care for neither, and they are "popular" because of the mainstream singles (Crossroads and Hey Ya). Some styles just don't travel as well as others I guess.

Those blindly defending hip hop have failed to stop and ask themselves what the overall benefits of hip hop to us as a people are..what are we getting from this thing.

we argue about the negatives, but what are the positives in hip hop for us a collective people?

Apart from nodding your head and shaking your ass, what does hip hop give us?
Because the only people benefiting are those directly earning from it, and they're 0,000001% of us. So what is it worth really. To me the negatives far out weight the positives and that means we can dump it like bad stocks and shares.

This might have some truth because the mainstream music machine wised up in the early 90's that positive Hip Hop was influencing black youth to become mad at the establishment. Like Wise Intelligent said, one of the biggest Rap records out in the years prior to the L.A. riots was "Fight the Power":

Some of the biggest Rap acts in the early 90's promoted POSITIVE music, never switched up and were supported by major labels. shyt, all of East Coast Rap prior to Black Moon Enta The Stage was some positive intelligent shyt from Boogie Down Productions (after Criminal Minded of course), Public Enemy, Brand Nubian, Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth etc. :smugbiden:

But at the same time, you can't be a fukking slave to the rhythm. "Rap music made me do it" is a cop out. :aicmon: And I've seen nikkas from good families from 100% suburban upbringings trying to live out Reasonable Doubt just because that's what mainstream pop culture promotes as respectable success for young black men. But anyone with a shred of common sense knows that's bullshyt. Young nikkas in the hood are selling dope and shooting at each other because Uncle Sam imports tons of dope and guns into the hood ever year, there's a liquor store on every corner, there are no jobs or real opportunities for most brothers in the hood and the government has created a generational welfare dependence system where fathers aren't needed. This is something that blacks born and raised in the 'burbs can never ever relate to, but they want to because of Hip Hop and low self-esteem. :umad:But if you were raised in the 'burbs and come from a good family, you are a straight clown if you choose to live the street life of hustling and gun busting just because Jay-Z made it sound cool. I know some dudes out here from nice suburban families doing decades behind the walls trying to live out Hov lyrics and it's nobody's fault but their own. :camby:
