But even with the song choices, it was more along AZ's style. he loves 80s samples. It may have been a little too flashy for most people's taste but AZ and Nas are laid back but flashy people then you have Foxy tryna keep up with the joneses.

And a REAL Firm Album would be Nas, AZ, Nature, Cormega, Foxy, Half-a-Mil, Mary J, Dawn Robinson and maybe Ali Vegas.

Realistically Half-A-Mil was lucky to even make the album. I dont think him and Nas ever actually met in real life.

But yeah the firm album really just had too many guests spots to be considered a "group" album. Thats my only problem with the album. I actually liked most of the songs and Nas and AZ ripped it up, its just that there wasn't really a group feel to it.

The biggest problem to me is that Nas and Az wasn't on enough tracks. How Nature gonna have two solo tracks and Nas ain't even do one. This should have been like the Dynasty album ended up being. Nas on every song like Hov but with a guest or two on every track.

I wish The Firm would come back and reboot. Foxy, AZ, and Nas all have been in the industry for awhile so they know what works or don't work. So they would be in a better position to reboot it successfully.

I think that Nas whole purpose of the firm was to start his own crew/put people on and let them get shine.

Same reason why he put out QB finest.

Nas and AZ (at the time) had already dropped solo albums and enjoyed solo success.

Those albums were just so everybody else could get on and eat.

Yall really thought The Firm album was that bad? It was disappointing to me but I thought real problem wit it was that it had to many skits

Album gets a lot of flack but I loved it at the time. Had my first car and that little firm tape box on deck.

I can remember riding to Phone Tap in the light rain one time. It was beautiful. :noah: I wasn't judging shlt like that back then, when Firm Biz came on I just used the fast forward option.

I have not listened to that album in over a decade. But, it was what it was. A vanity project. :yeshrug:

here's the o.g. version of "Desperados" with no DJ.

it's not quite CDQ but it's pretty close and no DJ. it doesn't feature Canibus or AZ though.

just nas, foxy and nature.

07-the_firm-desperados_(original)-mc.mp3 - 6.6 MB

that extended version with everyone on it is still yet to be heard without clue screaming.

yeah I had that one....it was on Cutmaster C or something. Actually the first time I heard it cut it off right before Nature's verse but he was listed on the credits. It's not official unless its everyone AND Canibus lol

Damn near every song he said "Firm Affliliate". Nature was on both Half-a-Mil albums, Nore was on million, freestyle session with Nate & Mega, gazillion AZ features...I'm pretty sure Nas knew exactly who Half-a-Mil was.

They chopped and cut it up so much, it's hard to pinpoint the OG. I believe "Part II" is the original, because the first time I heard it was Nas & Foxy. Then there was a version with Canibus, then it was Canibus, Nature & AZ (album version), then after the album Clue released this one and dubbed it Desperados Part II.

Only facts are that Nas & Foxy are obviously supposed to be on the song as they are still on the hook and Canibus say "Nature will explain it further.." and then AZ spits lol

Yea, Part II on the Clue tape was the original song, the problem was Columbia/Sony only wanted Nas to actually rap on a 5 songs (he just spoke on Untouchable and the retail Desperados) songs since the album wasn't on their label (it was on Aftermath/Interscope) so they had to cut the verse off, as they figured the song was strong enough without him....

Also, part of the problem was that each member brought their people on the album....
Nas got Wiz and NORE (Jungle was his and Natures manager at this time) a verse....
AZ brought Half A Mil....
Foxy brought her brother Pretty Boy...

Also due to scheduling, they were only in LA for like 5 days to record with Dr. Dre and did the songs on the album as well as Everyday Thing, Fist Full of Dollars and some others....When they came back to NY, Trackmasters did the bulk of everything else.....
