A Clone is an exact DNA copy ...

Actors have body doubles all the time .. they're basically duplicates ... but their DNA is not the same

i want to be fooled, but you believe in cloning in the 1800s :skip:

reread what you said, "i dont want to believe what is shown to me"

the reality is all magic is is slight of hand and illusion, yet im the fool :laff:

Wait, so the entire reason you conjured up this make-believe logic behind the film is because you refuse to accept it as a science fiction film??? :usure:

I'm not even debating with you on Nolan's intent of making the entire film itself a magic trick. He's known for doing that kind of thing just as he did with Memento where we see everything from Leonard's perspective by short scenes going backwards and forwards. Also with Inception where we ourselves are in limbo of how it ended living in a paradox. So making the point that this film's intent is to be set up as a magic trick is a moot point. I am in with you totally on that. What YOU do not understand is that even in a film that is full of illusion and deceit it shows you how it was done each and every time. Again, you just don't want to accept it. You are like the Angier character wanting to be fooled. Even Sarah stated after the bullet catch trick was shown to her that "once you know it's quite obvious". Everything in the film is shown. You just don't want to accept it as it is.

And your reason is because of cloning in the 1800's as if this was documentary? I'm done. Believe what you want to believe.

No.. even she didnt know ... batman didnt wanna ruin his trick .... hell, he even cut off his own finger ...

The today line was genuine, she thought he was psycho who had mood swings and would love her one day and not the next... She hung herself because she couldnt take it anymore ..

Nah, she knew. Their last argument strongly implied it. I mean how else can you interpret "I know what you really are"? But it's a perfectly ambiguous part, I will admit. But I believe she hung herself because of that realization. It was also strongly implied when Olivia stated Sarah wanted to tell her the truth.

Indeed, it's the hardest part to wrap your head around in the whole movie because you really have to delve into the abstract notion of identity. The Angiers that was killed by Borden at the end of the movie wasn't biologically the Angiers at the start of the movie(indeed, there were a lot of Angiers between them), yet he was identical in every single way including mentally. So was he or was he not Angiers?

It's basically a sort of Ship of Theseus paradox applied to human beings.

A fascinating film, to be sure....

Even THEN Angier never could know if he was the man in the box or not....the metaphors in this film! :banderas:

Well to be fair, I believe that she knew, but she didn't know know. She suspected/had a gut feeling but she didn't have proof. Short of ripping Fallon's disguise off him, there was no way she was going to confirm what she suspected.

the funny thing is neither magician received the prestige for the trick they performed...

If you believe Tesla's machine worked. the original was killed while the duplicate remained.. The duplicate really had no clue what was going on so he technically didn't get the prestige.
Then as for Batman, it was always the other brother so technically the batman performing the trick didn't get the prestige for his trick either.

The Borden twins took turns, so they indeed received the prestige. Albert told Angier when Angier discovered they were twins and asked him who went in and who went out.

But you was right about Angier never knowing. Hell, it was a duplicate that Borden killed anyway.
