danny glover
but they do mention the first one in predators. the is israeli sniper mentions it...
He either skimmed through the movie or just didn't read the quote.
i didn't even know you posted a verbatim quote from the movie
The predator is still essential to the movie. Or else there wouldn't, y'know, be a movie.
"Alien" is a movie about the creatures physiology. You see it's life cycle. The creature is far more complex than the creature in "Predator" which is why it's revered more. The movie cannot work without it due to it's specific physiology.
The creature in "Predator" could easily be a deranged soldier, a "colonel kurtz" or a "Rambo" who uses guerrilla warfare and the movie wouldn't change. It's faceless and hidden for the majority of the movie. They even think it's the "guerrillas" in the movie. Arnold is far more important.
In "Alien" The team end up on LV-426 because the company that sends them wants the creature due to it being the perfect organism.
The team in "Predator" go to the jungle to fight guerrillas.
They exist in the comics and books. Apparently, they're taller and bigger than the males. Fox rebooting predator Lawd, well let's at least get a film that takes place on their homeworld or in space for a change if the reboot is successful. Only glimpse into their world was through wolf () in AVP:R^^^we still have no idea if female predators even exist
They do acknowledge it breh. The Latino chick talks about the special forces squad in South America that first encountered the creature.
Isabelle: We don't have a name for them. '87, Guatemala. A spec ops team went into the jungle. High end. Six men plus a CIA liaison. Only one made it out. In his debrief, he said they came in contact with something. He gave a detailed description. The thing on the totem. It wore some kind of camouflage that adjusted to ambient light. Made it nearly invisible in our spectrum. It could see in infrared. Heat signatures. He used mud to block his. That's how he beat it. It hunted and killed his team, one by one.
Ok but that was robert rodriguez words..and Did u not read @MartyMcFly post from above?
Its not a reboot.
I’m going to be able to shoot my upcoming Machete here, a sci-fi action film called Nervewrackers, a re-boot of the Predator series called Predators, and a couple of smaller movies called Sin City 2 and The Jetsons.
Robert Rodriguez himself even branded it as a reboot/remake .

You don't use the same setting, guns, set-pieces, characters and scenarios. It was a modern day remake/reboot of "Predator" . They even used the word "reborn" in the trailer , "This Summer. Fear is reborn." was the official tag-line of the film .
Exclusive: Shane Black Says His PREDATOR Film Is a Sequel, Not a Reboot
While the initial report said that Black’s new PREDATOR film would be a reboot, Black tells us that he and Dekker see the project as definitely not a reboot, “As far as Fred and I are concerned anyway,” Black said, adding “Why start over, when you’ve all this rich mythology yet to mine?” Black said he doesn’t like reboots generally, but can “really get behind inventive sequels”, noting that he likes “the idea of expanding and exploring the existing PREDATOR mythology, rather than hitting the restart button.”

Now that i think about...that idea could be dope. A cop trying to catch a stealthy killer during christmas. Thing is..it has already been done in predator 2I am bummed it is not a total reboot.
I guess this frees up Shane Black to set this sequel during Christmas though.
