The predator is still essential to the movie. Or else there wouldn't, y'know, be a movie.

"Alien" is a movie about the creatures physiology. You see it's life cycle. The creature is far more complex than the creature in "Predator" which is why it's revered more. The movie cannot work without it due to it's specific physiology.

The creature in "Predator" could easily be a deranged soldier, a "colonel kurtz" or a "Rambo" who uses guerrilla warfare and the movie wouldn't change. It's faceless and hidden for the majority of the movie. They even think it's the "guerrillas" in the movie. Arnold is far more important.

In "Alien" The team end up on LV-426 because the company that sends them wants the creature due to it being the perfect organism.

The team in "Predator" go to the jungle to fight guerrillas.

The creature in Predator is a distorted version of the commandos. It's a musclebound psycho killer that can't speak legibly (hint hint). He slaughters them indiscriminately the way they slaughtered the guerillas. It has to be alien because it defies the rigid masculine logic of Arnold and co. If it bleeds they can kill it? Not exactly. Predator needs that moment where the creature unmasks and reveals its face, a wild-ass vagina dentata. You don't get that with a Col. Kurtz type. And at the same time, the movie's already making references to Apocalypse Now and Rambo, it's just doing it through a sci-fi lens.

They exist in the comics and books. Apparently, they're taller and bigger than the males. Fox rebooting predator Lawd, well let's at least get a film that takes place on their homeworld or in space for a change if the reboot is successful. Only glimpse into their world was through wolf () in AVP:R

I’m going to be able to shoot my upcoming Machete here, a sci-fi action film called Nervewrackers, a re-boot of the Predator series called Predators, and a couple of smaller movies called Sin City 2 and The Jetsons.

Regardless of whatRodriguez said, the movie acknowledged the first predator movie therefore making it a sequel.
