Thought the movie was cool. Far less sappy/corny than the white movies of the same vain. Lil Rey provided some funny parts. Movie is good if you aren’t going into it like a super nerd writing down every movie anticipating the Oscars.

Lakeith is a good actor too, but I feel like he could really fit in crime/suspense type movies.

We missed the movie last night, came to late so we caught it this morning and it was great to me. Like a black Notebook. Issa actually looks much better here than what she does on Insecure. LaKeith and Lil Rel is just like me and my homeboy that moved to LA. Music was probably the best part of the experience too.

I feel like this never got off the ground. I can get with it being understated but god damn

I saw this with my wife tonight and it was a decent chick flick without being too corny. The soundtrack was good and I'm not mad at going see it. We need to see more black people in movies like this where we're just people living lives and dealing with relationship issues that are normal and not overly dramatic and ridiculous.

This. That’s what I appreciated about this movie more than anything. It was normal. No screwed up traumatizing debilitating events, etc. Need more movies like this to balance out the black plight stories that have been running rampant over the last view years (y’all know which types I’m talking about, every cop related drama that ends up with a black family destroyed yet somehow forgiving perpetrators).

It was ok. My old co-worker played Issa Rae’s father as an old man. Im happ for Rob’s career.

I connected more with the parents more so than the main characters

You used to work with Turk Barrett?

That brother has been on the come up since he was in the Marvel Netflix universe. I'm always happy to see him branching out and doing well.

We worked together at a major investment firm before it FAMOUSLY collapsed in 2008. He quit a year prior due to the racism at the company. I always applauded his pro blackness
