This should not surprise anyone.
- Internet reduces face to face interaction which reduces the chances of meeting your significant other.
- Pornography reduces the drive.
- Income and career. It is lower and less stable which makes the conditions worse for a committed relationship.
- Quick fix solutions. Dating applications are regarded as the go to place but I would argue that they're counterproductive. The system is setup in a way that the dopamine boost isn't a meaningful conversion, it is the matches. It is also like having a lot of TV stations, you spend more time searching for the perfect show than enjoying one on the 5 basic stations.

Im sure its been pointed out, but 2008 was that big market/real estate crash and economic collapse. A lot of older people lost their retirement money, and even more people lost their homes/careers in that one. One of the biggest crashes of our lifetime.
