Oh shyt, its that Z97 you were grabbing? Is the bios and everything up to date?

Did you happen to upgrade that and THEN start seeing issues?
It's my new rig. It's an asus sabertooth x79.

I've been getting random shutdowns that I thought were ram related, but it looks like it's just a bad dimm slot

It's all up to date and I didn't make any changes to it.

Where did you grab that from? newegg?

I would recommend a gigabyte board if you can get your money back tbh...you might end up paying a little more, but its worth it.

I got it at Frys. It seemed like the best bet for a x79 mobo. It's the best frys has too. I can't get my money back now unfortunately (it's past the 30 days). I can just get a replacement.

Well, reseating the ram did nothing. It's back to only seeing 12gb. It's gotta be a mobo issue :to:

Edit: Now I got it seeing 16gb and I'm doing a memtest86+ and it's seeing an error now. Either I fukked something up or it was fukked up to begin with and it's just now noticing it :ohhh:

Either way, I'm going to fry's tomorrow to get this shyt resolved.

Mobo: Asus M5A78L M- LX Plus AM3+ socket SB 750 Chipset
AMD FX-6300 3.5GHZ Stock
8GB DDR3 10600
2GB R9 270X (Diamond)
Win 8.1 64 bit on an SSD.(Games are on a separate drive.)

I'm using an aftermarket cooler on my CPU, not stock. Cooler Master Hyper 212...

When I removed the heatsink I cleaned it using alcohol and used a fresh dab of arctic silver 5 thermal paste on the new CPU. CPU idle temp is about 25 degrees Celsius and 36c under full load according to Prime 95.

I have to tinker around with my shyt. I had an issue like this before with the FX 4100.

I tested this with my CPU's overclocked and since prime 95 resetted my CPU due to that I reverted back to default settings in the bios. I unparked my CPU's using this app and I also made sure to turn off any power saving options in the BIOS to not throttle the CPU. Temps are fine.

The only thing so far I noticed that was off was my CPU clock speeds fluctuating while Prime 95 was running. Stock speeds are 3.5 but yet I kept seeing it jump from 2.X-3.5.

HWINFO shows this..

After an 1 hour 25 minutes no errors.

Seems like my CPU speeds are throttling down but not due to temps because my temps are fine.
Reset all your powersaving default setting having your cpu do that is normal but from their give your cpu .2 more voltage then stock aame for the ram set it for manually and give them just a bit higher rated juice.

You do know those temps are wrong right. It's pretty known that AMD reported temps are hella inaccurate. Especially when you start overclocking, so keep it in mind when you do.

They are?? I used three programs: Coretemp, HWmonitor and HWInfo and all three reported the same temps.

I just ran Prime95 overnight for 7 hours and 48 minutes. 0 errors and 0 warnings. I had the CPU OC'd at 3.9GHz.

Edit; Well in HWMonitor TMPIN0 shows 42c idle and TMPIN1 shows 38c. I heard that AMD CPU's usually are about 5 through at most 20c off from their real temps. TMPIN0 is my socket temp so I'd guess my temps were :yeshrug: 36c? Highest the CPU temps showed was 41 so I'd still say those temps are fine as they'd still be below at least 65c while under full load...

Yea that's what I did at first. The CPU Vcore by default was 1.284. I manually set it to 1.320 and then tried Prime 95. 7 hours and 48 minutes no errors. Highest temps was 41C. I didn't touch the RAM though.

I suspect Trashfield 4 has it's own problems.

Look at these damn spikes.

Doesn't matter if I'm at the deploy screen. The framerate is horrific and is literally unstable. Doesn't stay at one number for more than a second. Stutter Season :smh:.

I'm gonna try updating my BIOS, chipset drivers and shyt.

You want the core temps, not socket. To stay on the safe side I'd go with what the highest reading is. There is no way that on air or even water cooling that your load temps would be 41c in Prime95..:heh:

Also, up to 20c is pretty big by the way. 68 degrees fahrenheit. When dealing with temps on AMD cpus I usually use the offset feature on coretemp to add +10 to +20 to the load temps.

I"m using Kanga Water that I usually soak my rice in for my cooling. :youngsabo:

Nah my highest temps according to HWinfo seems to be at 52c under full load from Prime95. I adjusted the offsets to 15 which is more or less in line with HWInfo. :snoop: Da fukk I gotta pull out a thermometer in this shyt?? :skip:

I just put my RAM to 667MHZ(1600) from 1333Mhz. I checked my CPU mark scores on Performance test and it's higher than my FX4100 for sure. I remember having like 4000 ish scores and the score for the FX 6300 is 6906.

:damn:

BF4 needs to work dammit!! I can see the framerates just reaching 100FPS on high in some huge maps on 64 players but no matter what the spikes occur so randomly and rapidly. I put the game settings on low and looked at the ground and the cpu spikes on the graph just kept shooting up for no reason. :sadcam:

Oh is the Thermaltake TR2 500 W PSU good?? That's what I'm using.
