I think it's time I slowly start collecting parts to build my own PC. I've been wanting to do this for a few years.

So, a new problem. CPU-Z shows that I'm running 16gb of ram, but my task manager shows I'm only using 12gb. I have 2 8gb sticks. Do I trust CPU-Z or Task manager?
And why would task manager only be showing 11.9gb? It looks like this:

Win 8.1 is really confusing me. What does committed vs Cached mean? Why is it only showing 12gb?
CPU-Z shows the proper 16gb:

I'm trying to stick with it, but all these fukking problems is making it harder and harder...Win8 is Vista status.
i rode XP till the wheels fell off and then jumped to Win7 and avoided Vista completely.
I'll be on Win7 until it catches on fire.

But this ram shyt, what the fukk is going on?
I have 8gb and here's what mine shows@daze23 I know you're on 8.1. Are you using 16gb of ram? Do you know what's up with this ram shyt? Do I trust CPU-Z or Task Manager?
Hmmm. steam is only showing 12223mb too (i.e., 12gb) and so is system info. Something is definitely fukked up. I'm about to check the bios nowI have 8gb and here's what mine shows

I imagine that 15.9 in 'committed' is my 8gb of physical memory plus the max size of the page file
I'm not sure why your 16gb's aren't showing up though
what do other sources say? when you look at the properties of 'your computer'? in your bios? also in Steam, under 'help', there's a "system information" option
If you can sell your mobo and cpu and get a i5 combo if thats not possible I had a 8320 for awhile fps were ok but amd dips are terrible at times to the point the games unplayable.I'm bout to upgrade my processor soon from a fx 6300. Should I get the fx 8320 or 8350![]()
Do me a favor and boot into your bios and tell me what it says is your ram.My bios is saying 12gb too now. I don't know when this started, but I'm sure I checked this shyt out beforehand and it said 16gb
Plus, how can only 12gb be showing when I have 2 8gb sticks. What's it using, half a stick?
How do I fix this problem? Suggestions?
