The more that I think about it, 1000 dollars isn't too bad for the price. The issue here is the 1080 Ti was cheaper than it should of been for how ahead of it's time it was.
Based on what? The 10 series had already been out 10 months by time it launched.

Their margins were razor thin because of HBM memory. That's a gamble AMD willingly chose.
and the original price for the 1080 was 600. The 1080 Ti should of been a 750-800 dollar card.
The Founders Edition originally launched for $699 and AIBs couldn't even be had at the $549 launch price for months.
