im trying to find when the sale ends.. im already at the check out but ive been staying away from impulse buys lately :snoop:
I was looking heavily into CyberPowerPC before I bought my prebuild from Alienware. The sales seem to be a regular occurrence with CyberPowerPC. So you could think it over a bit

went from $1819 to $1991 after "free shipping" ( :what: ) when I selected california :martin:

but ima think on it a day or two but right now thats the clear winner.. I like everything about it. Plus the local Frys (I buy all my parts from Frys) are all out of 1080 GTX anyway

Finally thinking of making the move towards a new PC

was really hoping to wait out for new gen video cards but not sure whats the hold up at this point

currently have a i7-3770k / 970 GTX

thinking of gettting a i7-8700k? 1080 GTX

unless someone knows new gen cards are releasing this year then ill hold off

ive never set up a liquid cooled system before either, how complicated (or time consuming I guess is real answer) is it compared to just setting a regular heat sink to the processor

edit: Or I could just buy a prebuilt one since im old now :russ: unless I can save $500 I dont see the benefit of building one right now :jbhmm:

edit: I havnt built a computer since DDR4 was relevant..

1) why the fukk is RAM so expensive now :wtf:

2) is there a noticable difference from say Corsair DDR4 3000 MHz vs 4000 MHz ? I could never tell the difference with memory

edit: pricing im looking at is roughly $1600 :patrice:

but I can just buy this same thing prebuilt for $1800 :patrice:

is the 8700k that much better than the 7800 :patrice:

edit#2
prebuilts seem to be around $2100.. so guess back to building :snoop:

I would wait until the z390 and 8 core i7 8900k or whatever it is if I were you. For gaming, you won't see much performance because games only utilize 6 cores right now.

Yes new cards are coming out wait until then, buy the gpu then. Build a new PC once the next intel cpu comes out, don't be the guy stuck with the 6 core while they introduce their 8 cores months later. Your current PC is good.
My 2600k fps are 15% less on average than my 7700k and 25% from a 8700k. You'll get more if you go on ebay or reddit hardwareswap and buy a 1080 TI.

It depends on your monitor, if you aren't playing on a 1440 or 4K monitor buying a 1080 or 1080 TI is overkill for 1080 gaming. A 1070 is the limit for 1080 144hz gaming.

So your path should be

A) Buy a 1170, 1180
B) Buy Ryzen 2 or Intel z390 (8 core gpu) or
C) if you do not want to wait buy a i5 8400 or i5 8600k, a used 1060 (250-300 dollars), 1070 (350-400 dollars), 16 gb of ram, refuse your other parts.

Cyberpower ironically got $500 off :leon: this only $1800 :leon: and includes 2 new HDS this would be same cost if I bought parts separate :leon:

  • Windows 10 Home
  • Intel® Core™ Processor i7-8700K
  • GeForce® GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X
  • 16GB ADATA XPG Z1 3000MHz RAM
  • 240GB WD Green SSD + 2TB HDD Combo
  • MSI Z370 - A PRO ATX Motherboard

:wtf: is adata memory I been seeing it on all the sites is that the new G skill

Here is a non prebuilt pricing - System Builder - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core, GeForce GTX 1080 8GB D5X, View 31 TG RGB ATX Mid Tower - PCPartPicker

Good deal?

I don't think it has G-sync tho...Is it worth grabbing? I only got one monitor at the moment, looking to add another..First one is a Dell with G-sync..

Let me know fellas.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-2...ck/5071403.p?skuId=5071403&ref=212&loc=1...On sale for 320, it's usually 600...

Nope, here is a better deal - G sync 4K IPS monitor, you can price match with other stores if they are selling it (online too). Make sure the names match and you can always go to microcenter check if your local store has it in stock.

A 1080 will be fine at 1440p. I’d also get the 8700k. 6 cores, and all for future proofing.

Try Alienware or CyberpowerPC
How is it future proofing when Intel is switching the CPU slot soon

im only saving $60 on that PCPartpicker actually would be more if you count the liquid cooling (the CyberPower prebuilt is liquid cooled, you used a standard Hyper EVO - which I currently have on my processor).

even at $60 its not worth it to me id rather just buy the prebuilt in my old age :manny:

Just a suggestion, and price comparison, some of us build, some of us don't. Doesn't matter it's your money. I overclock, delid, custom watercool my builds, like specific cases so prebuilds aren't an option for me but if you are throwing it under a desk just to enjoy gaming. Go prebuilt doesn't make a difference unless you are doing what I've said above.

I need some 2 brand new speakers, one under 100 for when someone over and one for my home lab/entertainment setup

the new logitech g560 look nice or razer nommo speakers? Audio engine? creative labs?

Also anyone have any experience with the new wireless mouse/mouse pad?

@Ciggavelli
I ended up getting that iMac
  • 4.2GHz quad-core 7th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz
  • 16GB 2400MHz DDR4
  • 1TB SSD
  • Radeon Pro 580 with 8GB video memory
Gonna get more ram very soon.
32gb minimum but will likely get 64gb.

Final Cut Pro ended up being the deciding factor in sticking with Mac instead of getting that Alienware Area 51 joint.

I've put a few games on it already out of curiosity.
It runs StarCraft 2 in 1440p with everything else maxed out without a hiccup at all.
Diablo 3 runs well with similar settings as well but I haven't tried to push it further.
Same thing with Fortnite.
I don't plan on gaming heavily with this set up at all but it's good to know I can get decent performance for the few times I decide to actually game on it.

For video editing it's been an absolute beast with Final Cut.
Pro Tools and Logic Pro have been working incredibly well also.

I don't regret the purchase at all, for my needs.
I can't lie, that Alienware still looks dope though and I wouldn't mind having 2 powerful computers...all though right now, I feel like I'll be getting a new macbook pro so I can show some of my video work to clients on the go.

Nice. A 580 should be able to handle almost everything at medium/high at 1440p. If I used video editing software more, I’d get a Mac too. Plus, Logic Pro X is the shyt

Just finished building my sff computer

Mini itx ASRock board
Got the mini antec case
Basically this build
The $500 Home Office / Theater Mini-ITX PC Build | The Tech Buyer's Guru

Except I've upgraded the processor

No dedicated GPU , but not a hardcore game player just htpc and regular daily surfing . Perfect PC for my needs , hella fast too.

Also been messing with custom OS builds and have been running Windows 10 lite (stripped down from all Microsoft's bloatware) definitely a smooth OS as well.
