While AMD didn’t want to reveal any gaming performance, it agreed to give us a taste of how Radeon Vega Frontier Edition performs in gaming. So we switched out the 8K Dell panel for a pair of Acer 34-inch, wide-aspect 3440×1440 panels, and AMD let us play games on both the Titan Xp and the Radeon Vega Frontier Edition.

To show it wasn’t just an API advantage, AMD let us play Doom using Vulkan, Prey using DirectX 11, and Sniper Elite 4 using DirectX 12. All of the games were set to their highest game settings, and we played at the native resolution of the panels. Although the identical panels were FreeSync-based, FreeSync was switched off on the AMD GPU.

From what we’ve seen, that concern may be misplaced. It appears to be plenty fast and, at least for the settings and the games we played, indistinguishable from the competition. Our original estimates after seeing Radeon Vega Frontier Edition with Sniper Elite 4 at Computex still hold: The cards appears to be faster than Nvidia’s GTX 1080 and close to that of a GTX 1080 Ti card.

Nice to hear, just hope it isn't too late since they are generation behind.

say brehs, I'm thinking about copping a 1080ti and the predator x27 when it drops. :patrice: Would my ryzen 5 1600 and 16 GB of ram be enough to run 4k or should I just cop a 1440p monitor and the rx vega if AMD finally decides to drop it :skip: @Ciggavelli

They 1080ti should give you 4K with a few tweaks. 1440p is guaranteed all ultra though (you could even get one of those G-sync monitors). I prefer 4K, but it's really not that much of a difference in visuals on a 27" screen. I just do it cuz I can (I have 2 Titan X Pascals).

But can you yell at your Kinect to turn your whole set up on like you will be able to with the xbox one x? :wow:

All Ultra....everything. I don't use AA though, as it's not needed at 4K. I can even run Witcher 3 at all Ultra at 5K and still maintain 60fps. I don't fukk around with this shyt. The only game I can't seem to get to run at 4K, all ultra, is Deus Ex. I can still maintain 30fps at all ultra, 4K, but that's not really too ideal (it's too choppy). Every other game, I murder :demonic:

Ryzen 1800 and crossfire Vega handling 4k at 60fps ultra or nah?
I think the 1800 is overkill :patrice: but it should run 4k at 60 fps in crossfire, I mean AMD said its almost on par with the 1080ti

Figured I should post a picture of my build. Originally my mobo was the Gigabyte Z270X Ultra Gaming, but it had some bent pins that shut down a couple RAM slots so I couldnt use dual channel and overall I was less than impressed with their Bios and overall software package. I didn't even bother with an RMA. I ordered the Asus ROG Strix Z270F Gaming as a replacement and installed it this morning. Pic below (sorry for the glare, it's a glass case.)
