what the hell u doing with a 3930k/x79 chipset? get yourself an i5 6600k - no sense in the newest kaby lake cpus - and pair it with a mid high end 1151 socket chipset motherboard.

if you are going to stream, than get the i7 6700k from microcenter or somewhere cheap. pair it with whatever motherboard u like in terms of features an aesthetics between $140-$200 on either z170 or z270. brand dont matter, theyre all good.

also, are u gaming on 1080p? and whats ur current gpu? i hope you still aint on hdd for your boot drive :hhh:

:russ:

I got 1070x2 SLI, 32GB RAM and a 500 GB SSD (don't know the write speed). I game on 1080p but that's cause I don't care for 4K resolution and would rather use the VRAM for better graphics/frames

I'll admit I've avoided/put off getting a new processor/motherboard cause it's definitely a lot more challenging than swapping out RAM or a video card, I wouldn't even think of upgrading now tbh but this processor gotta go

how long u had you 3930k? shyts been over 5 years since it was released so i can understand why u would want to upgrade.

but dont be like @Ciggavelli and buy enthusiast shyt just to flex your epeen. enthusiast cpus like x79, x99 upcoming x299 and even ryzen are a bad value for gaming. trust me, i know. i went from a 5960x 8 core cpu back to a 6700k. fukk the core count, its all about clock speed when it comes to gaming, and the i5 is still the best to compliment the fastest gpus giving u the most frames.

I've had my 3930k since like 2012 possibly?

I always thought it was i7 or bust tbh lmao

I'll get this and find a motherboard to complement it:

it's only $20 more than the 6700k you mentioned before.

if u want it, go for it. theres a lot of options in terms of motherboards. i recommend u get a z270 since it may have newer features than a z170 board in some capacity.

m.2 is the future, so if i were u, id look into one that has at least 2 m.2 slot support. that motherboard will be more pricey, but def worth it.

i'm gonna get a motherboard from the ASUS ROG line (most likely Code). I just gotta make sure the dimensions fit my case and get DDR4 RAM cause i'd be shocked if i'm not on DDR3.

hey man its your money. that code motherboard is :banderas:

i highly recommend g.skill or corsair ram. ive tried other brands such as avexir, kingston/hyperx and crucial. but g.skill and corsair ram were waay easier to lower latency timings.

if you dont care about manually customizing your ram speed, than just buy a 3200mhz kit from whatever ram u want to match your motherboard.

rgb is all the craze and g.skill has a really nice rgb kit with corsair coming out with one soon.

whats your case?

i'm at work so i'd have to hold off on the actual details of my case but i did some backtracking and it says my current motherboard was an ATX fit and the Code is ATX as well so I think I should be okay?

I know the brand is Thermaltake, don't know about the rating, i'd have to update when i get home

breh, how long u had it? i seriously recommend u upgrade that power supply especially if its as old as your 3930k. thermaltake power supplies are decent, but theres soo much better quality power supplies now and theyre cheaper.
