I think 02 brazil still loses to spain, especially in spains prime :manny: ronaldo would score at least once tho.

spain just suffocate your midfield. that brazil team was :ahh: but also all the teams back then except maybe italy gave you space and time to actually play the game and enjoy playing it.

any team that is known for its attacking has an extremely tough time against spain.
That Brazil team weren't even ":ahh:"

They and Germany had the easiest run to the finals ever.

After the group stage, they were super average.

My homie just said 02 Brazil could beat this Spain team. I barely watched the 2002 world cup how good was that Brazil squad?

That 02 Brazil squad had like the best player in the word Ronaldo and another top 5 player Rivaldo ... Ronaldhino was still emerging but killing it at PSG .. They had Cafu who s arguably the goat Right back roberto carlos was beasting back then basically talent all over ..they definitely would test Spain's ..Ronaldo back then was almost automatic in front of goal I could see them beating Spain

The way Spain keep and press the ball, I'm not sure whether Brazil (of 2002) could cope with that.

I meant :ahh: in aesthetic way, no homo. I dont think it was that strong but they looked damn good the way they played. dinho was a God who really enjoyed playing spectacular soccer.

like Ive said, attacking teams face a litmus test every time they play spain, and they always fail it. doubt that brazil of 90s/early 00s would be an exception

hard to do stuff with the ball when you barely get the ball and face heavy ass pressing all the game.

Their defense was weak and they would struggle like anyone else to get the ball off Spain. The mismatch in the midfield would be ridiculous too (Edmilson-Gilberto-Juninho against Xavi-Iniesta-Silva). Against Spain, it doesn't matter if you have great forwards, since they would dominate your midfield and starve your forwards of service... We just saw that with Balotelli and Ronaldo.

Also, in 2002 Brazil cheated to beat Turkey (diving penalty and the infamous simulation by Rivaldo), lucky against Belgium (deflected late goal), England (accidental Ronaldinho free-kick) and Turkey again (1-0)... That World Cup was probably the worst I've seen since the 1990 defensive borefest (even Germany's worst team of the last 20 years somehow made it to the final).
Ronaldo was good but he wasn't anywhere near his 1995-99 form.
The 1998 version of Brazil was better than the 2002 team (even without Romario).

I agree where Spain beats Brazil would be in the midfield but I give Brazil a great chance cuz they could counter attack at will and as we've seen with Spain or Barca is you can catch them on counters and Brazils speed on counters would give Spain's back 4 problems ...but if you don't have the ball you will struggle

And if it wasn't for John O'Brien's handball against Mexico, the US would have lost then as well.

But damn, they were all over Germany that day. That's when I realized that German team were shyt.
that world cup was freakish...
South Korea and Turkey made it to the semifinals, along with an awful German team (the same one that England beat 5-1 in Munich nine months prior)
