Not sure breh.

Europe is a lateral move, and there is rising xenophobia there and alot of unrest with UK and Brexit. Plus London is ridiculously expensive.

US i'm good on that. Have family there but would living there be any different than Toronto?

It definitely wouldn't be. It's the same shyt, and things are just as expensive and places are even more spread apart. I guess you could consider Asia or the Caribbean...but Asia is mostly expensive or the air quality is disgusting. It's a tough decision to make when you're quitting or thinking about relocating. There's pros and cons about every place.

I've thought about leaving though. I thought about moving and I even have some business ideas, but it requires a skill set way beyond what I know and people I know with coding skills don't have the time to pursue outside projects.

Director of Sales for a professional services company we place consultants with our clients on project and bill them a gazillion dollars, markups are great.

20% goes to me, 80% goes to the company.

I work 5 hours a day, but i've reached a plateau, and in terms of business ventures not sure yet. Was considering franchising in the fitness industry but i hate that shyt since it gives you no freedom to run your business the way you want, kicking around some ideas. I really think if i quit and travel for half a year it would open up my creativity.

The thing is there is risk, i got a 3 year old son and we're planning on having a 2nd soon. So taking this kind of massive risk requires much thought before i pull it off. i'm not solo.

with your skill set you can always get another job if need be. I'm trying to have the mindset now if i wake up tomorrow with pain in my body and go to the dr and he says sorry scarf you only have 6 months to live. I'll be like :ehh: i've already done what I need to do. I don't want to be one of those like oh now i'll go to europe, now ill go to a safari in africa. Nothing is guaranteed in life and I want to enjoy it now.

I think that's the best thing about travellign you can see and learn for yourself. Before going to africa all I knew was "poverty", and world vision feed the children fly in eye type situations. When I went I did not want to return.

If you were handed 10 million in cash right now would you honestly still live in toronto ontario?

I wouldn't.

I don't blame you breh, i dont make 215k but every day i wake up i feel like just quitting. This really cant be it for life right? Working 9-5 till you're in your 50's or 60's then retire and die. Get like 2-5 weeks off a year where you can travel but return right back to the grind. What really got to me last week was my work could not even let me off early last monday, i almost died like 6 times driving home that day and I was thinking if i died here, all they owuld do would send out a little e-mail and post my position and voila. I called in sick the next day and meh.

This is the modern day egyptian slave system even down to being able to leave the surroundings but expected to be up bright and early the next day slaving. When you're old you can finally "leave" .

When I went to africa last year it really opened up my eyes. YOu only have ONE life enjoy it!!!
I have a friend who just said fukk it and left
Saved 50k and bounced to Kenya
Dude living lavishly in Nairobi now

Has no intention of coming back

He goes back between Dubai and Nairobi

I felt the same way when I went overseas. People were friendly, things are affordable and the food was terrific. Pollution was terrible during the day, but you can handle it if you wore a mask. I've wanted to leave, but parents are getting older and I've posted about my dad's problems in this thread already. Probably not the best idea to leave and have him relapse again.

bring your pops with you :blessed:

And yeah compare the way people are there to over here. Canada is filled with depressed people, yet we have free healthcare, people making 40,50,60,70,80,90,100k plus and still. I was in africa and talking to people making 200canadian a month who work 40 hours a week yet dude was able to have a house, car, family and still have money left over and he was happy :dahell:

Unfortunately his meds aren't even available in most parts of Asia. His medication is incredibly expensive (probably hundreds of dollars for a single pill) and he needs it everyday.

When I have enough money, I'd probably live in Asia for the winter and just bring him over. That's probably the most realistic thing that I can do.

Overall, not too bad. I've encountered racism before but always the passive agressive variety such as stares, purse clutching, and people not sitting next to me on public transport Only been called the N word to my face once in my life and that was back in high school. Never experienced police brutality. Never been denied a job or service based on race. But I grew up in the suburbs though, someone from the inner city of Montreal would have a much different story from mine.

Deloitte type gig?

Yeah, that's a massive gamble, especially with kids.

In the same boat, where I'm done with the job, grind, go transit commute, but I don't have an alternative right now

I'm such a generalist (Product/Project Manager), have been in the financial sector for damn near 15 years (no college education btw), so worked my way up to Sr Mgmt level. As much as I hate it, I have 2 young toddlers and can't jeopardize their future.

Wife is a Project Mgr as well, so both if us have that corporate demand and associated pressures:beli:

Godspeed breh; hope you find what you need:salute:

breh listen i learned something valuable...most business owners and entrepreneurs delegate efficiently.

they don't code, or create pivot tables, and vlookups they delegate that to others. As long as you have a winning concept/idea you will be fine. Don't fear that jump.
