Creditors have seized at least five luxury cars belonging to Aiden Pleterski, a self-proclaimed ‘Crypto King’ from Whitby, Ontario. Two McLarens, two BMWs, and a Lamborghini were taken from the 23-year-old, who is feeling the heat from international investors looking to recoup at least $35 million from Pleterski and his company, AP Private Equity Limited, according to the CBC.

Among the people defrauded was Diane Moore, a grandmother who invested $60,000 in the alleged cryptocurrency scheme, and who is now down $50,000. She reportedly knew Pleterski personally. “The whole thing was based on trust,” Moore told the CBC. “What Aiden has done, I think, is awful — and I don’t know how he can live with himself.”

The 65-year-old from Clarington, Ontario is one of 29 creditors claiming Pleterski defrauded them. The investors are owed nearly $13 million collectively. In another lawsuit, an investor claims they’re owed $4.5 million, and obtained a Mareva injunction, a measure that effectively freezes Pleterski’s assets and bank accounts worldwide.

Additionally, nearly 140 investors who forked over $20 million responded to a call from a fraud recovery law firm investigating Pleterski and contributed to the investigation. Norman Groot, the founder of Investigation Counsel PC, told CBC, “we’ve never had a response like this.”

According to a bankruptcy trustee’s report, court filings, creditors meeting minutes, and complaints made to Groot’s firm, Pleterski owned 11 vehicles, leased four luxury cars, flew on private jets, and paid more than $45,000 a month to rent a lakefront mansion.

In an email, Pleterski’s lawyer told the CBC that his client disputes many of the claims against him and believes the financial claims from investors bilked are “wildly exaggerated.”
