City officials want this city to look as clean as possible and unfortunately that also means getting rid of anything or anyone of colour (preferably black) :francis:

Sure, Eglinton West will stay a cultural district. But what good does that do when you’ve kicked out all the black peoples and raises the residential and commercial rent to the point where only franchises or corporate chains can afford to stay there? The whole strip would just have a bunch of Sunrise and Scottybons flagships with dispensaries sprinkled along the way

This city don’t really give a shyt about systemic issues. best bet is to wait for election season

Jane and Finch is next, just wait when the new LRT is completed. LRT right beside a major highway near a subway as well. Why should poor old cacs have to move to peterborough etc

Yeah but there comes a time where we have to look at ourselves, There really is no excuse. Even the lowest paid job pays you 14 a hour not saying its mad money but even off that working full time you can afford a little basement apartment somewhere. I've seen black dudes grow up in middle class and still screw up. Can't depend on the white man to fix it we gotta do it ourselves.
Problem with this is that most 14 an hour jobs don’t even have full time hours. I remember back in Uni I yearned for full time work but the best I could get was a messily 3 days a week (even with bothering my manager). some factory jobs do the same and even if you’re put on site full time, it’s usually only for a contract of like 2 or 3 months. Retail is even worse cause your hours are dependant on store sales as well and are shared with floor staff (I’ve worked quite a few jobs in my 20s lmao)

Basement apartments in most towns will run you at LEAST 1000 a month no matter where it is. Even in Brampton down the street from my parents, my barber was paying 1200 while my homie who passed away was paying 1000 (Bovaird and Main)

There’s obviously no excuse to lead a life of crime, but there def are factors that can cause nikkas out here to feel defeated and seek dumb alternatives.

HOWEVER With respect to suburban Brampton/Mississauga/Vaughan nikkas, there’s lotta dudes in high school i remember growing up that only wanted money to floss for girls instead of needing it for necessity :snoop: and some led onto doing some headassery to get money

Rent prices going up by the second

And new places want credit check, proof of work, 3 letters of recommendation, deposit, criminal background check... Add to it part time jobs because its easier to pay staff part time wages even if you have them work 40 hours a week. No benefits, no sick pay etc.

Its becoming insane for the average person out here. Crime is only going to increase at this rate.

Some of those requirements are illegal and they only do it as a precaution but sadly ALOT of buildings do this as commonplace now :snoop:

I remember apartment hunting last year and some places wanted my most recent bank statement. I ain’t showing shyt besides my job offer letter and even that’s kinda crossing the line:hhh:
