The homeless in the city is crazy atm. Have you seen Dunbat park? Tents right up to the library door. This isn't a problem that's going away anytime soon.

:yeshrug:

I could easily go pick up my agage bread or bun and cheese and be mistaken for an opp :hubie:
You don't really believe that do you? You think the places you go to and the company you keep really puts you at risk?

and while this isn't directed at you, but simply re-posting these incidents without equally posting tangible solutions seems counter-productive

As a young black man it’s rough in this city now and while there aren’t many solutions, awareness is key as many whites and conservatives don’t understand what young black males go through in this city. Mistaken identity and random shootings have been on the rise and play a major role in this madness. What’s the solution for that ?

I mean many of us, myself included, grew up in these neighborhoods and still have peoples/family around there. I’ve had friends killed in these streets too so it is very concerning to me.

Plus like @TradePascalSiakam posted, it’s been a number of bruhs who were gunned down simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

If you scroll throughout this thread over the years we’ve had lengthy discussions on the issue and solutions and I think most of us are fed up with these nikkas. If we don’t take the stand to get these nikkas outta here and shame their behaviour, the cycle will continue. The hoods I grew up in 20 years ago are just as bad if not worse. That’s a systematic failure. Marching, protesting and talking bout solutions ain’t gonna be enough unless the government actually wants to change it.

So where I work right now, kids and young adults come through and play tennis and train daily. Since I've been here I haven't seen one non white kid except for one asian. The hallways here are lined with pics of previous tournament winners and am players. All white. This is in a very black area. Very black...

Sports are becoming a thing for mainly white wealthy families. Hockey, forget about it. Soccer, forget about it. Football, I don't even know if we have it here. Most stuff is getting too expensive for families, let alone for families of color... If your poor, or not close to comfortable you're kind of stuck with the most basic life, and even that is becoming hard to maintain.

Until the entire cost of living drastically comes down, or living wages drastically go up, life for a lot of black people in Toronto is going to be miserable.

We need to have these nikkas locked up and stiffer gun laws. We’ve been way too soft on nikkas who catch bodies or are caught with guns.

When some of these criminals get caught, I usually google their name to check their rap sheet and it’s TONS of these nikkas on the street with multiple assaults, gun, robbery, human trafficking, and attempted murder charges just walking the streets. Maybe 1-2 years in the bin and back out. These nikkas go right back to the game if they have to sit down for a year or two.

Lock these nikkas up for 10-15 for these (like they do in the states) and you’ll see how quickly these hoods change. I really do believe part of the reason this persist is because of how soft our judicial system is on violent crimes

Noted, it just gets depressing for me. Some of these incidents are the results of a systematic failure on the part of government, while some are just really BAD decisions.

I've been in contact with people involved in community programs in some at risk neighborhoods, and there's a lot work to be done with no support.

This. Absolutely massive. I was a bruh who was lucky enough to have family that was mad resourceful and found ways to pay for me to play hockey even though we were poor and I got to play till I was about 16-17 but that’s when you’re paying for ice time and travelling to the states and it got way too expensive and a nikka was pretty nice too.

Point is, the experience opened my world. I had to fukk up a few racist cacs over the years but I really got to experience life outside of the hood and to know there was so much more than just my neighborhood. So many of my nikkas never got to see past that.

At least in American hoods there’s more funding that goes into things like sports because they know that sports may be the only way for some of these kids to escape the cycle but in Canada if you’re black, this simply doesn’t exist for you.

Today’s coronavirus news: Two-thirds of Canadians say governments shouldn’t lift all restrictions; Construction complete on new vaccine-manufacturing plant in Montreal; Ontario reporting 296 cases
Looks like no one wants to go outside unless its 1000% safe :russ:

Christine elliots daily stats were mad misleading man. I’m here thinking we’re like 76% vaxxed :snoop:

Onatrio is only 68% vaccinated (1shot) and 22% full vaccinated (both shots)

I unmo what’s gonna happenwith the delta shyt but it seems we’re slower than I thought. Maybe the vax facility they made in MTL might help :manny:

Yup I played hockey as well and I remember this was like 25 years ago and it was like 500 bucks then for house league, when I made it to select it was even more money for the uniform, practice and travel. Many times for equipment i had to go to play it again sports and I'd get hand me down equipment from some rich folks on my team. Sports now are even more expensive even soccer :dahell:

And I agree the experience is great

Yeah but there comes a time where we have to look at ourselves, There really is no excuse. Even the lowest paid job pays you 14 a hour not saying its mad money but even off that working full time you can afford a little basement apartment somewhere. I've seen black dudes grow up in middle class and still screw up. Can't depend on the white man to fix it we gotta do it ourselves.

I agree sometimes you google these brehs name and they were like arrested for something in December and in June they out and doing ish again.

Its just like Jamaica crime was lower when you knew capital punishment existed and you'd be on the gallows. Canada is a joke, even that fakkit paul bernardo is up for parole every few years (even though he will never get out). There are dudes who committed murder 10, 15, 20 years ago who are already out

Opinion | ‘Life sentence,’ but Eaton Centre killer will be eligible for parole in 16 months

I bet if you google that year of the gun when jane creba was killed all those dudes who committed murder most will be out of prison very shortly

hell the dude who killed Jane creba would be out already if he didn't keep screwing up in jail

City officials want this city to look as clean as possible and unfortunately that also means getting rid of anything or anyone of colour (preferably black) :francis:

Sure, Eglinton West will stay a cultural district. But what good does that do when you’ve kicked out all the black peoples and raises the residential and commercial rent to the point where only franchises or corporate chains can afford to stay there? The whole strip would just have a bunch of Sunrise and Scottybons flagships with dispensaries sprinkled along the way

This city don’t really give a shyt about systemic issues. best bet is to wait for election season

They fukk you now by having to go to special camps during the off season. If you don't go to the camps you don't get the same playing time or ranking. Those camps are at least a grand a week...
