:whoo: damn I'm prolly gonna start this after Ray Donovan finishes(so I can marathon that). That's some pretty big praise though.

Well, it does have to stay on the current level of quality but this show really surprised me. It captures the time period to such perfection it's almost like I'm reading my old study books. Many shows get praised for such things (Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men) but this is the first show where I feel they capture not just the essence, but the entirety of those times. Add a really strong cast of characters and superb direction and the show might legitimately be better than any movie I've seen this year so far.

I completely agree with this. The show is incredibly well done and thought out. I feel like I'm really glimpsing into what life was like during this time period. You can see how archaic some of the characters thought patterns are, but you can also see in some ways how we aren't necessarily that different from people of those times as well.

yo that camera angle where algie was under the stretcher was fukking great, shyt was intense, how you could see one of the rioters legs underneath when he was asking where everyone was going....I really hope this continues the trend of movie Directors working on television. Does anyone know if Soderbergh is going to stick with this show from season to season? I can't imagine this show without his impeccable direction and camerawork.

i fukking busted out laughing when the dude who runs the knick saw his whore getting her back blown out :laff:

thack bout to be fukked once those withdrawals hit
You ever see a show called Deadwood? Its set 100 years before this so its 1800s... basically Wild West.
If you wanna see some real simping, check it out.

In the Knick, at least that whore works in a semi respectable brothel. In Deadwood the whores work out of a Saloon, so in addition to getting fukked they get beat up every other customer by prospectors and bandits that had a bad day.
But its always one nikka tryna wife one of em. Going on dates and walks on her lunch break after 12 grimey ass cowboys ran through her... then dude walks her back to work, kissing her on the mouth and shyt.
:sadcam: Great show, though. Highly reccomended.

agreed, how the fukk you gonna put soderbergh and clive owen on cinemax

heres how the convo goes

"Yo, you guys need to watch the knick, it's so fukking good, it has clive owen as a doctor in the early 1900s new york, he's basically on the cutting edge of medical science, i mean, these guys WASH their hands and sanitize instruments before operating!! It's directed by Steven Soderbergh who is a great director and it has a badass synth only soundtrack!"

The Knick>>>>Ray Donovan

:scusthov: @ all the c00nery buffonery going on at Ray Donovan. I fukken hated Marvin and Re-kon. Every black on that show is some lame 1D stereotype. All that bedwenching and c00ning. The Knick is a masterpiece showcasing black excellence.

It's probably better but I really only binge watch shows on my off days and for some reason I tend to put priority on returning seasons than brand new shows.
