Should Stan receive an asterisks for this French Open win?

He didn't beat prime rafa so it don’t count

Nole played yesterday so he wasn't 100%

It was windy, Nole doesn't like wind

only 4 players? :patrice: I am searching this right now... shyt not even sampras did it
There's two more I think. But first grand slam by Rod laver was before open era when it was still amateurs and pros. And back then it was three slams on grass and one on clay. So it was easier even if it was still a performance. Oh and also Australian open was considered a second grade trophy too. It was far distance wise and placed during Christmas so a lot of the top players didn't bother participate

yeah check the link i dropped a few posts up

laver did it in '62 and '69 i think..emerson finished his in '64..then there was Don Budge ('38) and Fred Perry ('35)

Stan actually has a decent shot at it..got the Aussie and French and his game is good at Wimby and US. He might be able to pull it off by the time he retires

Can someone explain to me how Stan hit his prime at 29-30?
Who knows.... different coach maybe... maybe something changed in his life for the better...he was always an amazing player, he was just not that strong mentally

@yoyoyo1 the betting Gawd, what were the odds of Stan winning the French at the start of the tourney ?

Yes.
around 15/1, I am a firm Stan believer but I didn't have enough money in the account to be adventurous.

The draw was a thing of beauty, you got all the grinders in one half and power players on the other. All value was on Stan/Monf/Jo

@yoyoyo1
You dropped the ball. Should've made that french open final betting thread, I wanted to bet it all on stan :mjcry:
I was thinking about it too, a whole whole lot and decided to feel it out.

1. Specifically woke up at 9 to see who was serving first :heh: If it was Djokovic I'd do Under 9.5, if it was Stan I'd do Over 9.5 - Saw Stan was serving first, I figured he had a whole hour of top play and decided to do the Over 9.5 (cause he'd have to get broken twice to have it go under, and I had the confidence Joker wouldn't be broken. Went exactly how I thought.

2. 2nd set I also read it perfectly, about +170 midway through the set when everyone was realizing that indeed Stan was for real.

3. Missed the 3rd set opportunity, I wanted to wait a bit until 3-3/4-3 to go with Stan, then he played the spectacular love break and I was mildly pissed I missed the chance. Had a chance at 0-15 but at 0-30 odds swung too much to do it.

4. 4th set I went for Djokovic right off, then was vindicated as he raced to 3-0. Then I got greedy and did Under 8.5 4th set thinking Stan was fading or if he wasn't fading, he'd at least tank the set. But Djokovic didn't cooperate, and I got double screwed. So lucky that Djokovic held at 15-40 the first time cause the set odds when back to before-set odds and I threw some on Wawrinka to at least not lose that much.

Ended up 3-2, that greed in the 4th set cause I waited a split second too long on the 3rd :mjcry: - reminded me of everything going right in the Kei/Joker match at USO, I hit like a +600 live bet twice during that match.

now we see what really works.

murray marriage failed when it mattered the most, stan left his wife and settles down with an 18 year old vekic and look at what happened

Fed got married and won how many majors afterwards...

You might be onto something :ohhh::mjlol:

funny that the two winners fates went the opposite of what was expected

you think that because it was clay ND would have the big edge because he NEVER EVER MISSES but it ended up being a positive for SW cause he could just grind ND out hitting big and it ruined ND's confidence.

and for serena, clay if her worst surface but everything ends up being slow enough so that she had time to find her form losing the first set before waking up and dominating the other two sets
