@VMR, is it OK to play that much at such a young age for your protégée ?

I think most players at her age and skill level (boy and girl) actually play much more than her on a week to week basis. Thats not okay....but they're obsessed with their rankings for scholarships in the future etc.

In general, I am against it and have told her father that. Most players are training 2hrs a day 3/4 times a week then playing tournaments 2 out of every 3 weekends. Thats way way too much..mentally and physically. This past week was draining but it was also a different type for her...doubles + different tennis format. She has been much more tired on a given day (2/3 tough matches of singles) but hasnt had to play 5 in 7 days before. In that respect it was good for endurance/conditioning.

We practice, on average, 3 hours a week total and she often takes weekends off from match play. I make sure of it. She's too young to risk burning her out mentally and she's at the age of growth that makes injuries both more possible and more devastating..particularly her knees. I told them to take this whole week off and to use epsom salts a few times at night for muscles. It starts getting tricky now though because she will be out of school and probably want to play all the time. I think her next tournament in next week in Massachusetts (first national level tourney)...

Feels like at some time Bencic just decided to guess the side because some were easy ones.

effort was :whew:

at that angle with the split and fall it doesnt surprise me at all if he got injured. adductor is a groin injury and a tear is usually 6 weeks. anything less than a month means its probably a a strain of some sort. if he doesnt withdraw from wimby i expect an early exit. no way he will be able to move even close to normal

Yep, record holder above Venus. Been a while though. Didn't prevent her from losing to the one true German Queen aka Angelique Kerber this week :noah:
