The epitome of boom or bust. You are very like to pull $75 worth of cards but there's a small chance you could get a $20K+ hit.

I've trying to look, and correct me if I'm wrong, but this years National Treasures come out in April? Do you know if they do a Dutch auction for these as well? From what I've been seeing, it doesn't look so.

And, $4,500 for one box?:why:.

They'll definitely have a Dutch auction for the FOTL release. Prices will be nutty.

Not trying to get burned badly. If people have questions about stock and crypto, then I'll have a lot of answers and information. But, when it comes to something I'm new too, I'll definitely ask questions. Too many people in general either think they know everything, or are afraid to ask questions.

And, from the posts in here and reading I've done, it seems like everything is priced so much higher than it was years ago, and that going singles is the way to go. As I said a few times in this thread, I'm willing to put an average of $500-1,000/week into cards, but I also want to be careful not just to burn my money.

Agreed with what Regular said

Silver Prizm rookie is the staple go-to card for any modern NFL/NBA player. Donruss Optic Holo Rated Rookies have become just as coveted for certain guys. Much shorter print run of the optic Holo compared to silver prizm.

Top high end is NT for the auto and patch. Flawless is next highest materials/auto set.
Immaculate would be 3rd.

I don't really collect NFL, but I know that Prizm, Optic, and Select do well and obviously Contenders is the king of normal trading cards in the hobby. Contenders Autos are GOAT'd

I'm also not a fan of sticker autos. Don't have any in the collection

Basketball has a lot more collectible and worthwhile sets than Football, imo

It's tough to shift the mindset of the hobby but I am curious to see if the insane print runs of Prizm the past couple years shifts the narrative away from Silver Prizms and over to Optic Holos.

I firmly believe Select Courtside Silvers are gonna command massive money in the future (I just picked up a Zion). Luka's Courtside Silver is already hitting five figures raw. The print run is like 250 for Silvers; base is something like 750-1,000; then you have Tie-Dyes and Golds, plus some others.

Part of the allure of the old Topps Chrome Refractor RCs is the relatively low print runs. Luka's Silver Prizm has over 4,200 graded by PSA; there's just 42 Courtside Silvers in PSA's pop report. It's similar for the Zion too.

The only hangup is the tiered system of Select and they're starting to b*stardize the parallels with too many (get this Disco bullshyt outta here).

I recall the spring and summer of 2019. Prizm base Luka PSA 10 was going for $80-120 a piece. Optic was much lower. Optic base raw could be had for $10 a pop.

Brehs on Blowout forums that were in the Luka thread were pumping Optic Holo at the time. Championing the print run and talking about how undervalued it was, compared to
Silver Prizm. Clean design, shiny silver and chrome, historic Rated Rookie logo, etc. Optic Holos were going for around $40 at the time of Summer 2019 when BO members were pumping it for Luka.

Gary Vee came out and said he could see Luka optic Holos reaching $1-2k.

They run 6-7k at this point.

The optic Holo hype was real and the surge happened. And I think if anything, it could continue. The further on we go in this hobby, the more and more desirable optic Holo seems to become and the more apparent the print run disparity between optic Holo and silver prizm becomes. I can only speak on Luka, but I’m sure this applies to many more athletes.

Similar things happened to Mahomes optic Holos from 2017. I have a couple and they certainly boomed after his 2020 Playoff run.

To be fair, everything in the hobby has boomed for everyone over the last 24 months. But my highest ROI for Luka and Mahomes has been my Optic Holos.

tldr: Donruss Optic Holo Rated Rookies have been getting a ton of hobby hype from collectors as being undervalued over the past 24 months and they have surged in value and desirability. I only see this continuing.

I agree with you but the regular Silver Prizm is still more desired. There's 3,500 more Silver Prizms graded by PSA than Optic Holos and the Silvers still sell for more. I'd like to believe at some point the Optic Holos will overtake the Silvers by a decent margin.

I stayed away from the Dutch auction today on the Football Select FOTL.

I think the lowest it went was a little over $1,300. Scum selling for for near $3,000 on Ebay.

I think that was wise. You could buy a lot of nice singles for that price.
