My Velodyne 12/15 sub in the living room just went out. Gotta find a replacement, in the meantime I have 2 Velodyne 10/12's in the other rooms, one will get moved in the dead sub's spot. About to browse HSU, SVS, and Definitive Technology.

Living room
Marantz NR1604
Klipsch RB-81
2 Martin Logan Dynamo 700 subwoofers
@shutterguy SVS subs look good but in my experience Rythmik and HSU perform better for the price
Ive tried 2 SVS subs(PC-4000 and PB16 Ultra) and returned both of them
they're good subs but overpriced
the PB16-Ultra was only slightly better than my HSU VTF-15H MK2 but costs 3 times as much
to me the Rythmiks are the best subs i tried hands down and ended up getting 3
they just sound more sharp and crisp compared to the others but the HSU is a beast for movies
these are the Rythmik subs I have
Mancave
Rythmik Audio • 15" servo subwoofer FV15HP
got 2 of these for the living room.I caught them on sale for $650 a piece
Rythmik Audio • 12" servo subwoofer LVX12
I still have the HSU but dont use it anymore. Its a great sub, just not better than the Rythmiks
Upgraded to Onix Rocket RS850's
Next upgrade is 2 Sony N55es amplifiers. Bridged mono should give me 300 x 2.
My subwoofers are not In optimal locations, but they still phenomenal.
Btw, definitive isn't trash, but you'll get more for your dollar with an internet direct company
I'm going through a reimagining of the mancave. I've placed almost everything on the table in regards to replacement and this will likely be a bigger upgrade than I anticipated. Upgrading the audio equipment, new shelving for games and entertainment system to accommodate the new consoles is becoming a must since I'm going to continue to display my older consoles. Television is off limits till it croaks per Mrs. Iceberg.
I'm doing this exact setup with my basement. Except the arcade machines are more for decoration than use, so i got the mortal kombat arcade oneup machine and modded it with a light up marquee. Gonna get two more, prolly Galaga and some beatem up game like turtle but i'm waiting to see if they release an x-men one first. This has begun.
I had to check off a few boxes in the crib before we got to this such as upgrades/improvements/replacements. I knew this way back when but I was able to speed up the timeline since I was thinking 2021 is when I'd start. My pics from 2015 of what it looks like roughly are still up in this thread. Anyways, I'm in the same house and the same room will get redone. I'm going to repaint the room with Flagstone as a color. Grayish/Blue. I'm going to go all in on the gaming theme. For my older heads, think Aladdin's Castle at the mall or at least the one that was at my local mall. I've failed if a person comes here and doesn't look with wonderment of some sort. So, this is what I'm starting off with.
Seatcraft Sienna seats
A row of two with the arm rest in the middle but mine are power recline, this model shown is not as they are manual. The module that controls the recline are on the sides and has a usb charger on them. Where my couch is currently is where these are going to go, I'm moving that couch against my wall, replacing the futon since I see my boys can take care of things a bit in the mancave when I'm not around so I don't worry too much about this upgrade. Currently waiting 4-6 weeks on them. Since the footprint of these is smaller than the couch currently, it gave me room to buy this.
This is the exact cabinet that I bought. The Wreck It Ralph themed one with a few differences. My joysticks and buttons have LCD lighting in them and it comes with a trackball in the middle for games like Centipede. I'm going to have arcade, Neo Geo, Turbografx, NES, SNES, SMS and Genesis games ultimately running on it. " Ya boy just wants to play NBA vs NBC Showtime all damn day brehs" I bought a 22 inch Acer monitor separately to be used here for this (Maximum size). I've already gotten emails saying that it is being cut right now. I'm going to flash the games on this. I got the package where everything (speakers, Raspberry Pi, wires, power supply, audio amp, etc.) except for the monitor is coming. I need to buy two stools. to sit on. That is a local buy.
These are the two largest purchases though thus far. I did also buy a Pac-Man themed rug, it's 5' x 8'. For the couch, I got 4 gaming pillows. River City Ransom, Gears of War, Secret of Mana and Kingdom Hearts related. They are all 20" x 20". I found a site that allows you to customize garbage cans with themes so I got some high resolution art of Grim Fandango and that will be on the can. I purchased a Prepac Triple Wall Mounted Storage Cabinet as well. Lastly for the decorative stuff for now, I got sixteen 20" x 30" frames for posters ( I got a deal for buying in bulk). I've scoured the internet for high resolution art, without company names, goofy graphics, etc of my favorite characters/franchises so that I can make them into posters. For this, I would prefer to do this locally. I've been looking at Walgreen's and they run 23.99 each. This is when I miss having a Staples around or other competitors. My goal is to frame them at the store when I get them all done together. In the future, if I see lighting accents or something that catches my eye, I may consider but this is where I stand currently.
Down the road. PS5/XSX are day one purchases. I'm going to see what technologies come baked into those because they are going to drive my next television & receiver w/ speakers purchase. 4K is a given and I'm partial to 120fps for the television. For the receiver, it is going to be based on the audio capabilities of the consoles since they will be the only things hooked up to it.
Once some of this is place at least, I'll put up the pics and take suggestions on where I should think about going from there. I'm thinking late July/early August. Freight shipping is a pain in the ass right now. Chairs are in California. Arcade Cabinet from Oklahoma. I got time to kill. First order of business is to get this paint job done.

That's dope. Reliving childhood is a fun nostalgia trip. Which X-Men game? Children of the Atom is forever my shyt.
In my case, I was going to just leave my cabinet plain until I came across where I bought it from. Originally, I was going to go through Monsterarcades but I found gameroomsolutions instead. It's a movie about gaming so it seems like a no-brainer and way more inviting then just a plain black cabinet. A lot of what I'm doing is decor related. Just an expression of myself as a gamer and some of the games that shaped my love for the medium. My rug was always going to be Pac-Man. Aesthetically, it has a pretty clean design and I needed to rep that franchise somehow. When it comes to the posters/pillows/garbage can, there was a ranking process as far who gets the poster, who gets delegated to the pillow and the can. First world problems, I know but it was fun because I had to rank games/franchises and some, like Sonic. Super Mario RPG or a Grey Warden from Dragon Age didn't make the cut at all but for example, Sam Fisher and Ippo Makunouchi from Hajime No Ippo made it to the posters. A few more curveballs in there as far as posters but hell, this is about me, . There are what most would expect like Mario, Master Chief and Kratos though. Once I figured that stuff out, then it was time to find good enough art that I want to fulfill my desires and that was where even more decisions laid. This whole process has been a blast. In retrospect, I'm surprised by how much I antagonized over some things but still, it's a fun trip as I stated.
The original Konami X-men arcade game from like 1992. That was my favorite in the arcade as a kid, but they never ported it to consoles. It was basically just a clone of the teenage mutant ninja turtles game and simpsons (konami made all three)
I was planning on getting the pacman rug too actually, and strangely enough i'm trying to also get a old school vending machine to put down there for drinks. Like a classic cola bottle machine. Gotta scour craigslist like courtdog for that though.
I coulda sworn this hit consoles
but they never ported it to consoles.
i never saw it.I coulda sworn this hit consoles
