The PlayRoom VR Update Adds New Game: Toy Wars

SIE Japan Studio revealed today on PlayStation Blog that they have updated The PlayRoom VR, adding a new game: Toy Wars.

Toy Wars is a free four-player cooperative tower defense style game set in a base under the bedroom of the game’s hero. Players must fend off against waves of enemies, as if the VR player is hit even a single time, the game is over.

The main VR player is mounted on a swivel chair, and is armed with a Gatling gun that shoots soft plastic bullets to defend themself. Those playing on the TV take control of mechs piloted by the VR Bots, with each mech having a unique charge attack.

In our Editor’s Review Guide to PlayStation VR Games and Applications, DualShockers recommended that players buy the game, saying “the game serves as a perfect jumping-off point to virtual reality skeptics at any age.”

You can look at some screenshots of the new mode below. The PlayRoom VR is a PlayStation VR exclusive.

If you haven’t picked up PlayStation VR yet, we’ve got some good news – the PS VR bundle is making a return. This was available for pre-order before launch, but it’s hitting store shelves next week for $499 USD / $699 CAD (MSRP). Check your local retailers for availability.

The PlayStation VR Bundle represents a great value, as it includes all of the following items:

Interested in the frightening adrenaline ride of Until Dawn: Rush of Blood? Well, even more good news – an exclusive PlayStation VR Until Dawn: Rush of Blood Bundle will be available at GameStop and EB Games. This bundle will become available later this month for $499 USD / $699 CAD (MSRP), and includes the following:

  • PlayStation VR headset
  • PlayStation Camera
  • Two PlayStation Move motion controllers
  • PlayStation VR demo disc
  • Until Dawn: Rush of Blood
It’s only been three months since we launched PS VR and the game lineup looks to be incredibly strong in 2017. I’m super excited about a few PS VR games in the year ahead, with Farpoint, Golem, Gran Turismo Sport, Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin and Star Trek: Bridge Crew in my sights. Hope you all get a chance to pick up a PS VR headset and enjoy these for yourself. We love the PlayStation Nation’s passion for this platform and I can’t wait for what’s coming in 2017!

The Playroom VR (which is a free game) is a hidden gem for VR imo. I don't get why more people arent talking about it. Maybe it's getting overlooked because it's free and looks like a kid only game. It has some of the best PSVR graphics and has some fun mini games. One of them is like Luigis mansion and they have another one that is a solid platformer. The games are multiplayer as well.

What RE7? I been posting my live streams in the RE7 thread. It's incredible. At first I was getting motion sickness about 35 minutes in but now it seems like my brain has gotten used to the movement and I have very little trouble playing. In VR the game is incredible. There's nothing like it. And the game itself is a blast to play. Right now I give it a 9/10. 1 point off because so far the encounters have been easy. But this is definitely the game that I feel it's worth it to buy PSVR.

Ive been reading the impressions and it seems like RE7 was made for VR. I played the demo before it was released on an OG PS4 and it was cool, but nothing special. I only played for like 10 minutes though and it was only one game. I told myself once there's 3 must have games for the VR I'll cop.

1 down 2 to go :ehh:

The RE7 demo and the complete game are night and day different. The complete game is incredible.

As for other PSVR games worth getting:

Drive Club VR
Batman Arkham VR
Eve Valkyrie
I Expect You To Die
Until Dawn Rush Of Blood
PSVR Worlds
Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes (Only if you have someone else to play with locally)

I'm pretty sure I own and have played the most PSVR games on this forum so if you have doubts about the games let me know.

I haven't even played the RE7 demo, I only played the tank demo at best buy before the VR dropped. Batman looks dope, but I heard it was mad short and I don't fukk with driving games and PSVR seems :ehh:

I'll check out the rest of the games though. I know by Q4 2017 there's probably gonna be a gang of good VR games released.

Batman is very short, so is until dawn, which is why you can find them for $20.
That's not to say you should ignore them though. They are both great especially for the asking price.

@Kamikaze Revy suddenly I want to watch 3D Blurays because of PSVR.

https://ww w.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_n_1?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A2625373011%2Cp_n_format_browse-bin%3A6259461011%2Ck%3A3d+blu+ray&keywords=3d+blu+ray&ie=UTF8&qid=1486166765&rnid=2941120011&ajr=2

PSVR essentially became an even better value with this update. I seriously am considering buying a bunch of 3D bluray movies just to watch them with the headset because my TV doesn't support 3D.

Nah screw that. What's the headset anyway? 720p or something like that? Anyway the resolution is rough most of the time I can't imagine how crappy a 3D movie would look through the headset. I mean, it's interesting, I'll try it out, but I suspect the quality will be complete garbage.
