Yea they need to take a page from Apple book and just widen the dates as the back order builds.

Atleast you know you got an iPhone secured when it they go on sale. You just might not get one on release day.

Yeah, but what would stop scalpers and larger resale houses from just scooping a fukkton of backorders? Of they go that route, I think it'd have the exact opposite effect, and there could conceivably be a situation where there are stretches where scalpers are legitimately the only buying option. At least now, people have a chance, even if it's a minimal chance.

If there was an option to purchase on back order I would absolutely do it in a heartbeat. I appreciate the queue because it's better than most retailers but I'm sick of scrambling to random websites

Maybe they paid Sony for more of them up front? No clue, really. Only thing I can think of is that Walmart probably has a little more weight to throw around than Best Buy.
