Not really savy on this but even if it doesnt support it at launch, could there be a firmware update down the line that adds the support?

or is this a hardware issue?

I would think so. I really wish they'd add ultrawide support in these consoles as that would be great but I doubt it. It would be much better for FPS games supporting 4K/120hz. 3440x1440 is much lighter on the GPU than 3840x2160.

Yea I would think they could put out any resolution they want up to 2.1 spec at any time; it’s just more testing and potential dev work to make sure every one is up to par, especially in a closed system
