Shoot. Those pictures are great.took a couple of my girl trying to get my portrait game down
any tips on portraits? @shutterguy @Kamikaze Revy
Sony and Panasonic are driving innovation right now
Speedboosters change all of that. I copped one and using canon glass on my GH5 has been a huge upgradethey are
I remember my first camera was the gf2 mirrorless and it was way ahead of the game back then
only reason im still with canon is out of loyalty and the value my lenses hold

Nice shots. The b/w looks like you lit her from overhead or bounced from the ceiling, I like the smaller aperture on the shot as to bring out details like her earrings. Color shots looks to be lit from a bit lower, I like that lighting a lot better, I think the aperture used on the b/w would be great on this shot. Looks like the depth of field is very narrow. Prime lens? Looks tack sharp.
thanks breh and thanks for the tips will make notes
and yep was a canon 85mm 1.8 prob my fav lens
So dope. Im getting into filmaking myself. Going to shoot a few documentaries and eventually films. I'm looking to upgrade my Sony Alpha 6000 to either the GH5 or the Sony alpha 7 III. What made you go with the panny?Shoot. Those pictures are great.
I haven’t gotten heavy into photography yet. All my work is focused on video right now.
I have a GH5 with a metabones speedbooster, a sigma 18-35 mm art lens, a canon 50mm, and a few lumix lenses. I ordered the sigma 50-100mm that I intend to use for photography but it’s currently on back order.
Went with the GH5 for 4K 60fps at that $2K price point. So dope. Im getting into filmakin myself. Going to shoot a few documentaries and eventually films. I'm looking to upgrade my Sony Alpha 6000 to either the GH5 or the Sony alpha 7 III. What made you go with the panny?
Does the m43 formfactor not make you worry about limited depth of field options?
What type of vids are you making btw?

Depth of field isn't an issue, low light performance can be but honestly, it's not as bad as some people on the net would have you believe.
With some native prime lenses I found the low light performance to be solid in 95% of situations.
About a month or so I put down about $10k in more equipment to keep the businesses moving forward. Picked up a metabones speed booster that allows me to use canon lenses on the GH5 as well as improves the amount of light I'm getting into the small sensor. Copped a cage with a top handle and side handle. A ninja inferno monitor which gives me the ability to film 10 bit 4K 60fps in ProRes. A sigma 18-35mm art lens and I have a 50-100mm sigma art lens on the way. Copped some new gear for the studio as well (UA Apollo X6, Adams Ax7's and Avantone MixCubes)
I launched my LLC in 2018 and had an amazing first year.
We've already done 10 (training) videos for the Navy, a few realty walk throughs, videos for local businesses, and a few government contractors.
I'm still working my 9-5 but the plan is to limit my hours to part time by the end of 2019 and put my primary focus on my business. I'd love to be doing this 100% full time by next year but I'm patient. If it takes longer I'm cool with that.
Here are some links to some of our videos that we've been allowed to make public.
If you're not in a rush, just wait until the specs for the Sony A7SIII drop. There's rumors swirling about it having an 8K sensor in it.Those look really good! All those were shot with the GH5? Well damn, i need to reconsider. I already have my sony alpha 6000, and i have some high end lenses i bought that i wanted to continue to use. I figured the Sony alpha 7 iii would be the next logical move. I may end up getting them both as they seem to be equal in recording capabilities, although the panny seems a bit more sophisticated in its feature set.
Are you self taught or did you go to film school?
Man i have like a million questions to ask you breh.

I've been wacthing youtube vids on film making over the past few weeks now doing research. I've narrowed my choices down between the GH5 and the Sony alpha 7iii. The 7iiiS has no release date, but im looking to purchase over the next few weeks honestly. If you're not in a rush, just wait until the specs for the Sony A7SIII drop. If you're serious about this shyt, you can teach yourself a ton. Film school is great for networking and giving you structure, but unless you need a push and/or aren't confident in staying focused on putting in the work on your own just go to YouTube University and start shooting/practicing
