it's all photography bro... post it. i'm curious to see

First music video so go easy lol. The artist loved it and so far everybody liked it but thats from a non videographer/photographer prospective. Shot in 4K 24fps but scaled to 1080p. Slow motion shots were 1080p 120fps in HFR mode.

On a couple takes I forgot to set the white balance properly and had to fix it in post. Newbie mistake. It was also very cloudy at the start of the shoot and then got very sunny so that kinda threw off some of the shots. i tried my best to match everything in post. Didn't use any LUTs

Sony a6300
sigma 30mm 1.4
rokinon 12mm 2.0

The audio sounds great. Most of the shots are great. I honestly don’t think you need any luts for this. I like the natural look of it as is. Did you shoot at 60fps? Some spots were you slowed it down looks like you might have gone from 30 down to a slower frame rate and gave you some choppiness. Overall really good video. You would definitely benefit from a gimbal. I have the Zhiyun Crane Plus and cant recommend it enough. It’s a bit expensive but worth it. Did you try the stabilization in final cut? Especially for that in car shot. FCP has great stabilization. What camera are you using? It seemed to handle low light well.
I love the Zhiyun Crane. I have the handleheld grip and remote for it too

any videography brehs have an advice for some good LUTs for fcpx?

my school took some kids to puerto rico for hurricane relief.

it was my first time using a shotgun mic. i need a gimbal though

Your video had good visuals and sound. LUTs are not always needed.
Only thing is the lighting on the part in front of the PR flag is not that great, it doesn't match the look of the rest of the footage. That's a green screen shot I'm guessing?
A Gimbal is pretty much a necessity. Like the other poster said the Zhiyun crane. I like it because its very compact and lightweight.
Overall the video served its purpose.

The song is cool, on the video end of things the cinematography could definitely be better but most of the technical stuff was fine. Where the video lacks the most to me is in the direction, there was a lot of extras in the video which made it more dynamic but w/o more intentional direction it felt borderline home video more than a music video. A lot of "music videos" these days are like that so it's not a knock on you if that's what you were going for but imo it's played out.

My advice would be to get more creative with the lighting on future projects, if your clients aren't looking to go too far out of the ordinary on their music videos then two lights (Fresnels if you can afford them, LEDs are much more convenient though) and a gel kit w/ diffusion and colored gels go a long way to making your videos stand out in the sea of generic music videos, especially if you can finesse a dope location.

Also, invest in a good 85mm equivalent for your aps-c setup which would roughly be a 58mm lens. Get a fast 58 that stops down to at least 1.8, it's ideal for close-ups and medium shots where you want the subject to separate from the background. Also invest in good quality NDs so you can take advantage of the shallow DoF on your wider lenses during the daytime. A reflector would've been a good look as well for some of the shots in the courts that had harsh shadows on the subjects. Fortunately you shot on a cloudy day so it was pretty diffused anyway though.

Thanks breh, I appreciate it! I went with the takstar over the rode for money purposes

For the LUTs I was just thinking in general did anyone have suggestions for good ones. I shot it in 24p, so yea the slow motion wasn't hitting.

I probably won't be able to get a gimbal until the end of this year, but was eyeing the Crane v2. Is there a big difference between the plus and v2?

I didn't use stabilization in fc, I have in the past put it didn't work out for me, maybe I'll give it a shot again.

The camera is a nikon d5600, using a sigma 17-50mm 2.8 lens. I pretty much just use this lens for everything, i find it versatile

thanks for the tips

Nice work! I love that sigma 17-50mm on Nikon crop sensor cameras. Which Picture Control did you use?

Thanks breh. I just a dslr about 8 months ago, never looked into picture control.

The only other mode I can work is aperture, and when I checked picture control it was on portrait.

Love the lens. Are there any other must haves? I have a 50mm prime and this 17-50mm sigma
