Just to chime in...

I have been shooting with a 35mm on the A6000 for years now. Before I got that, my first prime lens was the 50mm. It really depends on what you are going to be shooting the most of. IMO, the 35mm is more versatile on a crop sensor. For street shots, or just gatherings/events indoors, the 35mm gets the job done cause you can get closer for portraits and if more people hop in a pic at a gathering, you don't have to back up nearly as much with it compared to the 50mm.

If you're doing mostly portrait stuff, the 50mm is better. The 50 gives you more depth of field at f1.8 because it's a longer focal length. Just my 2 cents

One thing I need to stay up on is learning the terms and what means what.

I've learned what this means before but I brush up on it so infrequently that I don't retain what I've read.

It just means that since it's a longer lens (50mm > 35MM) that it creates more of a distinction on the subject that you're focused on and the background behind them.

The 'Bokeh' effect... you know it when you see it, but the shots where a person or item is in focus but the background is a blur. It's more ideal doing this with longer lenses at f1.8 etc.

somehow she ended up in a similar pose in most of the pics. :pachaha:. It was at a meetup so i only had a few minutes here and there. I still like the pics. :manny:

edit: i think most of these were shot with the old Sigma 30mm f/1.4. Might be my new favorite lens after using it only once. I like that its a little bit wider than my 50mm and it's way sharper and the color/contrast really pop.
