i haven't paid a single one. Last couple pages in the thread has posts from some of us about finding models. Most of mine just come from IG. Girls that claim to be "models", or should i say aspiring models, that just need photographer connects, or girls with lots of selfies (as silly as that sounds). Then just network from there, you get a few shoots in and the networking gets alot easier because one model posts her shots some of her friends gonna be following up trying to get shot. Many of them are trying to build portfolios anyway.

edit:sorry i read your post wrong...If its somebody i reach out to, i don't have them pay me. I'm at the point now where people see my pictures and they are coming to me about shoots for like senior pics, prom pics, engagement. Slowly but surely, building a client base. I've heard other photographers say this but its like the more work you do for free the more more paid shyt rolls in. It's just kind of the reality for alot of photographers right now that aren't truly plugged to some kind of credentials.

I been shooting since like 2012. But for a few years i wasn't serious about it. I got a little more serious in like 2015. But for my outdoor stuff it's just natural lighting. And most of my portraits now are with a basic 50mm 1.8.

Those types I do not charge nor they pay me.
It is about the networking.
I get wedding, baby shower, and other event gigs from them knowing that I'm a Photog.
I charge for those events and that is my photography revenue.

One thing you can do is go walk your local campus and find some average girl. Offer her a free shoot and do you best with the project - make her look good.
She is going to show off your work and spread your name.
The hot girls are not going to like the fact that she is getting attention from the photos. You will get more contact from that project.
From there you can do more networking shoots or start charging a small fee.

I want to get into photography. What's the best camera to start with?

if there is one thing i've noticed through the years, the camera doesn't mean as much. A skilled photography can make any camera shine. I remember when I first started taking photos and I was like crap I need a better camera etc., then i started joining flickr groups and I was like how the hell is everyone getting all these superb photos while i'm here struggling :to:
time and patience, learn the camera, whatever you get. Learn the ins and outs of photography and you will beo n your way

I remember when I got my full frame I was thinking like :damn: my photos gonna be :banderas:, only even now I still use my crop sensor camera more because it's easier to carry around
