I've had the most success just be finding girls from my city on IG. Just girls with lots of selfies, that have the standard "model/brand ambassador/MUA (make up artist)/blah blah blah" stuff in their profile. Just DM them that you are focusing on portraits, you want to build your portfolio, etc... and ask them if they want to link up. If you get a few shoots in and they are good, w/ each girl you shoot...her circle of friends are eyeing that shyt. Some will follow you, follow them back, you know that type of stuff, just building your circle of "models". Also, just use like whatever local hashtags are out there and put out some "let's shoot"..."I'll be in this part of town this afternoon, who's trying to shoot" posts.

For shooting with the sun in the background, what's the optimal number of strobes to have? I took these with only keylight, but now wondering if multiple lights would make more sense

If you want to minimize the shadows you can either stage a fill light (like a 150 or 300W) or you can diffuse the key light by either bouncing it off of a ceiling/wall or attaching diffusion paper to the barn doors. If you like the high contrast/glow effect on the highlights from having a single light source then I recommend going with a bounce card (white cardboard surface that you stage across from the light) to fill in the shadows.

That 1st shot is really good, pose and props definitely make it. I like the 3rd one, I think with a black background that blue would pop.

I used to shoot with a photographer who used at minimum 2 lights outside, 1 key and 1 fill. This is something I plan on jumping into soon, I need to pick up a portable battery pack for my strobes.

First 2 shots with the MP look great, along with the 4th one. You can minimize shadows with light placement, output and diffusion, I would try some different diffusers on your flash/strobe units. What are you using for flash?

I used to shoot with a photographer who used at minimum 2 lights outside, 1 key and 1 fill. This is something I plan on jumping into soon, I need to pick up a portable battery pack for my strobes.

First 2 shots with the MP look great, along with the 4th one. You can minimize shadows with light placement, output and diffusion, I would try some different diffusers on your flash/strobe units. What are you using for flash?

I bought two Yungnuo YN685 flashes. They were the cheapest ones that did HSS and the reviews were good on amazon.

can't develop a rep for that. Cuz they all end up following each other after they work with me or they already know each other. But man, some of them be having me . If they offer i won't say no.

Breh, you should want them to know about each other, it breeds competition. Then all you gotta is wait for their menstrual cycles to sync up and you can feast

That is not a good way to build a long term reputation. I know too many photogs that let their Dic game get in front of their photo game and the empire came crashing down.
