Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
But because I don't have a LLC at the moment I'm going not be able to do any of that until next year's tax return no? Which sucks because I bought the camera and all my lenses in 2016.
if they are taxing you now, you can write it off now

speak with a tax professional, NOT turbo tax.... they can help you

I got my first speed light (YN685), but I'm not sure how to make it work wirelessly using commander mode on my D7100. Anyone have any advice? I raise the flash on my camera, point it at the sensor on the speed light then shoot, but the remote flash never triggers.

Built in flash is off, group A and B is TTL, and the channel is 1 and The speed light is in manual slave mode (622 r. slave) on group A and channel 1 as well.

EDIT: looks like I need the transmitter for it to work and it'll be here Monday.
you should be able to put the flash in "slave" mode. And when your on camera flash fires, the speedlight will fire. Make sure you are shooting within the sync speed of your camera. I know on my camera I can't shoot any faster than like 1/180th of a second. Other cameras it's sometimes about 1/250th. And HSS is something else.

edit: And if you want to use it without your on board flash you'll need recievers/transmitters.

Anyone got fukking tax tips?
What good is selling my photos if it's just going to destroy my return. They sent me a 1099 and that is making me a "business" according to the feds.

I mean I'm a business but....yeah
Me and my brother just got an LLC situated and processed this last week. I didn't buy anything serious yet because of it. Basically... now anything I spend to make money for my photography will be tracked and written off going forward.

It's lit

pretty much, Im trying to take pictures as if they were taken in the 80's/90's. Using Lightroom can change that or is it the camera?

Took some pictures tonight using off camera flash (only on last 2 photos) and flash really does make a big difference. I'm still getting used to shooting by myself but I'm getting there. My biggest challenge now is getting the damn camera to focus and learning how to frame my shots better. Next time I'm gonna remember to bring my reflectors with me

@8WON6 props on listing the light souce of your shoot. How effective would you say these are if you need it to emit a lil more light than you used for these photos?

it's get pretty damn bright i could only use it on the very low settings. In somewhat low light or like dusk/golden hour its good enough to be a decent fill light. But it's not good for like a sunny day. But i'd check out a few reviews if i were you to see if it's what you're looking for. A very inexpensive alternative to ice lights.
