in good light, zone focusing is the shyt.i've gotten to the point where i shoot events and zone focus instead of using aurofocus
Facts, i was doing this before i even knew what it was called. it's usually the first thing i do whenever i enter a new location, way easier to get quick candids smoothly without people flinching or making goofy poses, also means less time fidgeting with the camera

Cop the 35mm 1.8 G. Its not worth the effort using the stock lenses. Also look into photoshop and light room for photo editing.

http://a.co/iqC7UMj - lens you recommend

stick with the 35

p.s. for 29 bucks what you got to lose with that wide angle adaptor. Just make sure it actually fits.

I see a lot of portraits with the background blurred. I know it's a preference, but how do you get them like this

IMG_5113.jpg

The background is just as much in focus as Michelle is.

I've taken photos with people in front of landmarks and I hate them being blurred out so much

low aperture / High F stop

the higher the f number the larger the field of focus.

You should probably read some articles or read some youtube videos on the basics of photography. (exposure, shutter speed, f stop, depth of field, ect) Not a diss :hubie:

but once you get the basics down everything else becomes intuitive.

Thanks breh. You're really helping a lot.

I actually am reading articles and reviews before I come in here and ask things. I don't take it as a diss at all cause I know I need to keep reading and literally taking these notes

When I usually come to ask, it's when I've read a lot that day, and get conflicting answers/reviews from sites. So I come here where I can ask direct to people who are actively taking pics

Understanding exposure is a good read too and I think youtube is one of the best sources of information....they even have some stuff thats camera specific. Anyways feel free to ask whatever u want just remember that getting good is 90% intuition.

Take the picture at an aperture of 2.8 or above.
