I was so mad because before we walked on stage at weigh-ins, he told me he was going to stab me in the neck actually. They had to separate us. The guy's nuts, man. That's why I was so upset... We were in line, waiting to walk out for weigh-ins. He comes to me, and he says, 'You stare at me like this again, and I cut your neck. Then what are you going to do?' I wasn't mad about him missing weight. That sucks. But him stabbing me in the neck? That's not cool."
He has nothing to apologize for, but I understand.Anderson's first statement via his twitter account:
'Brazil I'm sorry, I didn't want to disappoint you! I gave my best I swear.'
Get well champ!
He is champ. Did you miss the first fight? Or even the first round in this one? He was doing a better job checking kicks then in the first fight. He gave respect to Silva in his interview with Rogan. Nothing to hate him for. Would of liked to see Silva win, but Weidman did nothing wrong.
So he is the champ because he checked a leg kick, lol come on now. He won the fight based on injury, that doesn't make you a champ. What does the 1st round have to do with it, did you not see the Sonnen/Silva 2nd fight. Sonnen dominated the 1st round as well and then got his butt kicked in the 2nd. Weidman got a free shot in the 1st fight, and then won based on injury in the 2nd. He shouldn't have raised his arms as if he just won the powerball, He should've just thanked silva, thank the fans and said I dont feel like im the champ till i win a war against the best there ever was Mr. Silva. just like when Edgar won a close fight he said he didnt feel like the champ and didnt want to touch that belt, till he won in a rematch.
That's interesting but I see a different reason this rematch won't happen. One of them is gonna lose their next fight IMO. The way things have been going so far I have a feeling something odd will prevent Gus vs Jones 2 from going down.BTW was talking to a very close friend of mine who does personal security for some ufc fighters and is friends with Jones. My friend has been working on some tours doing security so hasn't been around much but he was back in town for xmas, and he told me he talked to Jones after the Gus fight and Jones told em with the most serious fan that he is NEVER giving Gus a rematch. He said that was the hardest fight in his hell an dis still shocked he won. He said he was fighting off pure muscle memory and instinct as he blacked out for parts of the fight. He has told Dana and Lorenzo that he will fight any1 and will even go up in weight class just to avoid fighting Gus.
you can make all the arguments you want but how he portrays himself and the way he celebrated after winning via freak injury dont go togetherHe is champ. Did you miss the first fight? Or even the first round in this one? He was doing a better job checking kicks then in the first fight. He gave respect to Silva in his interview with Rogan. Nothing to hate him for. Would of liked to see Silva win, but Weidman did nothing wrong.
I'm not sure why there'd be any hate going towards Weidman. The kid did what he had to do. It's not his fault Anderson didn't drink his milk. A checked kick does involve some skill and timing though (bringing in the toughest part of the leg, the knee to check his shin) so there's some credit to Weidman for that.
It was really unsatisfying though because I know that Anderson just started to warm up and we probably missed another Anderson highlight. He's got so many. I just hope he can come back from this but I feel like we'll never see that Anderson ever again.
how would he not have known when he had the best view when silva's leg went elastic man likeGive the kid a break, adrenalines still pumping, he did one lap with his hands up after he won using a technique he explicitly trained months to implement. He did not scream or yell and went to check on Anderson within 10 seconds. He didn't necessarily know Silva's leg was broken and especially not how gruesome it was until he saw the replay like everyone else.
Also it's really just ignorance to discount Weidman's victory being purely due to freak injury. Bottom line is he implemented a technique that ended the fight, Anderson didn't slip on a banana peel, I really don't think people would be saying the same shyt if Silva broke Weidman's leg with a kick
