Damn am I buggin' or are the only two cats to start 2016 with a belt and still have it now Cormier and DJ (not counting JJ here since it's damn near impossible to compare women and men in P4P convos imo?) DJ has 5 title defenses since 2015, Cormier has 2 and I don't think anyone else has more than 1 (not counting Woodley's draw and it's worth mentioning that Stipe has his second defense coming up). It's hard to win a belt and REALLY hard to hang on to a belt in any division at any time.
It doesn't help that when someone wins the belt tthese days they start talking about taking a vacation and we don't see them for months. Nunes could have easily had another defence by now if this was zuffa or if she was Ronda but they are dragging their feet. The same with Connor and bisbing

They all want a money fight when the way to get to money fights is by actually beating the top contenders in your own division. The old superfight suggestions were based on guys who had cleaned out their divisions to the point they had no where left to go but up or down a weight class for competition. Now you got Woodley and Bisping with one title defense and one draw between the two of 'em tryna set up a "super fight."

WSOF becomes Professional Fighters League; Inaugural season set to kick off next year
by Ariel Helwani@arielhelwani Apr 19, 2017, 10:20am EDT
World Series of Fighting has become the Professional Fighters League.

The new promotion was officially announced Wednesday morning and will launch in January 2018, per a press release.

Much like the International Fight League of yesteryear, the PFL boasts the fact that it’s the “world’s only mixed martial arts league.” However, unlike the IFL, the new PFL will not consist of teams.

The inaugural season will run for ten months and will feature seven different weight classes, though, officials declined to comment on which specific weight classes will be featured.

Each fighter will compete in three regular season fights. Those with the best records will move on to a playoff and then the championship round. It’s unclear at this time what would happen if fighters end up with identical regular-season record.

Each tournament winner in the seven weight classes will be crowned champion and win a $1 million purse. An additional $3 million will be shared between other regular season and playoff competitors, but specific payout details weren’t disclosed at this time.

While the inaugural season is set to officially kick off in January, sources say the promotion is currently scheduled to hold at least four more events in 2017. At this time, those dates are: June 30, Sept. 30, Oct. 30 and Nov. 4.

The organization’s NBCSN TV deal expires at the end of 2017 and, according to sources, they do not currently have a new deal in place with the network or any other for 2018. Those talks are currently underway with several media outlets, including NBC, sources say.

The new promotion is co-founded by Washington D.C. businessmen Donn Davis, Russ Ramsey, and Mark Leschly, who purchased WSOF earlier this year. According to The Washington Post, Ted Leonsis, owner of the Washington Wizards, Capitals and Mysitcs, as well as members of the Lerner family, who own the Washington Nationals, are also investors.

Former WSOF employees Ray Sefo and Carlos Silva will continue with the new group. Sefo will serve as president of fighting operations, while Silva is the president of event production and business operations.

I'm sure this will at least garner more attention than their old format did.

And it seems like they have some big money investors backing it.

DJ aint no GOAT or #1 p4p

His best wins are what, John Dodson and Joseph Benavediez? Ian Mcall??
And at least with Fedor the guys he's beaten you have seen fight other big time fighters and have some sort of success.

There is nobody DJ has beaten that I wld rank as an all time great, legend, hall of famer nothing. If Torres is your biggest win then you have a sad record. Cous every1 who watched we back then knew Torres wasn't shyt. And was padding his wins vs mid to low tier competition. Which is y he lost to Brian Bowles after and Benevidez.

I'm fact when DJ beat em Torres went 3nwins and 5 losses in a 2 yr span. So that is the great win for DJ? Come on son, let's stop da hype train. Ur a solid champ DJ but far from great.
smh I had just started watching MMA @ the peak of WEC I bought into the torres hype and later the Brian Bowles hype :ohhh::snoop:

Yes but Silva has wins over other top fighters from other weight classes DJ doesn't. Silva beat Forrest former lhw champ, Hendo former lhw and middleweight champ, vitor former lhw.

There is absolutely nothing on DJ's resume that speaks towards being p4p best. If nething it shows da opposite he's only good at fly weight and nething else he's average at best.
Again DJ was top 5 at Bantamweight.

No one's saying he's number 1 but he's top 5. You can't list 5 guys you'd put ahead of him.

True...That doesn't say much for MMA P4P list imo. You can get into that top 5 p4p just from defending your belt a couple times cause titleholders drop like flies

Cody already there :skip:
Stipe bout to slip in
Bisping top 10 :heh:

I think P4P is more relevant for boxing fr
Again DJ was top 5 at Bantamweight.

Ur comparing top 5 bantam vs CHAMPS. Being top 5 is nothing to being the actual CHAMP, Hendo, Forrest, vitor were Champs at higher weight classes.

U wanna be p4p, prove that ur skillset translate to higher or lower weights by beating their Champs. He hasn't beaten ne former Champs of ne weight class. He's basically fed off beaten the who's who of habitual losers in ufc.
