can i get some feedback on this mix?
This is a powerful thread right here props to @TheMaster for kicking knowledge. I use a different interface than most of y'all so I headed to youtube. I checked some videos out regarding 3 things primarily: EQ, Compression, and Panning. This is literally my first time ever even looking into mixing. I like the artist work better. When I was collaborating I would just hand in "beats" and somebody else would sit there and Kanye/Dre it. I didn't even arrange just 8/16 bar loops mostly.
Anyway. I took the time out to mix a track I posted on here previously.
Let me know if y'all hear a difference or what. I changed minor arrangement stuff since there was a difference in sound. Let me know what you think, if you can hear a difference, and what else I need to do (aka what's wrong with it) or some other techniques.
UNMIXED
MIXED
Personally I don't know if the time was worth it. I primarily do this (and everything I do) for fun. What I just went through was not fun. Hopefully it's an upgrade though what y'all think?
One question: How do you get the 808 and Kick to stop bleeding all over the place. I tried to use the limiter and set it at -.01 but it would always fukk up the sound of the drum.
My bad.. I deleted it from my soundcloud after I added the new onethe unmixed isnt working...

Yeah I had compressor on there it made it sound real funny like the actual sound itself got distorted. I tried using the limiter too which was supposedly there to stop it from bleeding. I guess I will watch more videos of that and Gate but I feel like I did alright for a first time especially with like 30 tracks in a couple hours Thx 4 the feedback thoughto stop bleeding or control the 808 u would most likely use a compressor...also you could try using a gate as well...
Yeah...but I think the kick he used already is meshed together...side-chain the kick and 808. the 808 will "duck" it (lower in volume), so you'll get the punch of your regular kick, and then the lows of the 808 can take over. choosing the right kicks that work well together make it a lot easier to pull off.
same technique as edm guys use to make their synths pump along with the rhythm of their kicks...just a more subtle way to use it.
Both the 8 and the kick come from the same trap producer so I thought it would mesh but I feel you about picking the right sounds the importance of that was taught to me when I first started out.side-chain the kick and 808. the 808 will "duck" it (lower in volume), so you'll get the punch of your regular kick, and then the lows of the 808 can take over. choosing the right kicks that work well together make it a lot easier to pull off.
