Many top prospects are in the final stages of finalizing visits and choosing a school, but Michigan commit Jordan Elliott is signing with the Wolverines, and now it's just a waiting game.

The four-star defensive tackle and U.S. Army All-American committed to Michigan after the game against Michigan State this season.

"The experience is great, my mom loved it, and the atmosphere is special," he said. "I could see myself there for four years." Elliott said about why he committed to Michigan during his official visit, rather than waiting.

Aside from the atmosphere, Elliott enjoys the staff a lot, too.

"Coach Harbaugh is one of the best coaches, ever. He's so unorthodox, and outside the box," Elliott said. "The coaching staff being as good as they are was just an added bonus to how great this place is."

During the Army game, there were tons of rumors going around he had been considering flipping to Texas, his home state.

"I think it might have been people trying to get retweets," he said. "I only talk to Michigan, and I'm signing to Michigan," Elliott said.

He is comfortable, but he's also trying to get people to come to Ann Arbor and be comfortable with him. His biggest want for the 2016 class is Michigan State commit Josh King, a four-star defensive end.

"We had a really good connection at the Army game," Elliott said. "I'm not saying he's going to flip, but it'd be real cool to play with him and I know Michigan coaches are pushing hard for him."

Between the time he committed and now, Michigan replaced D.J. Durkin with Don Brown at defensive coordinator after the former too the head coaching job at Maryland.

"We went from good to great," Elliott said on replacing Durkin with Brown. "(Coach Brown) had the number-one defense in the country playing teams like Clemson and Florida State," he said.

Elliott also stated how great his relationship with defensive line coach Greg Mattison has been for a long time, which was another big reason why he committed.

Michigan early enrollee, Brandon Peters, spoke about some silent commitments Michigan has at the US Army game.

"Yeah, they're real. I can't tell you who they are out of respect to them, but we have them." he said.

Elliott also called Michigan defensive lineman Bryan Mone, "the best player on the defensive line," and said he looks up to how he plays so aggressively.

Elliott plans to major in business at Michigan. He reports to training camp this summer.

Notes

Keeping Johnson: My #1 question heading into National Signing Day was whether or not Michigan would be able to hang onto TN four-star wide receiver Nate Johnson as he appears to be set on taking three visits in three weekends heading towards February 3rd.

On Thursday, 247Sports National Analyst Barton Simmons reported that Notre Dame has increased interest in Johnson and that he's cancelled his Vanderbilt official next weekend in favor of a potential visit to South Bend.

Right now, it appears that Notre Dame is a very legitimate threat to land five-star athlete (but likely wide receiver) Demetrius Robertson out of Georgia. That would likely put them out of the running for Johnson's services. It is of note that he has not been offered a scholarship by the Irish yet either.

Either way, while we're not calling it a nail-biting recruitment at this point, it appears other elite programs are taking notice of the Michigan commitment.

Dwumfour: I'm leaning more towards a flip for the Wolverines this weekend with NJ DT Michael Dwumfour, who has been on campus since Friday morning after getting in very late on Thursday.

The Penn State commitment really wanted a Michigan offer earlier in the process, and after the staff gave him one, it's given him a lot to think about. With Penn State's defensive overhaul and more and more pressure building on James Franklin in Happy Valley, the belief is that Dwumfour may prefer to sign with Harbaugh and the Wolverines.

Would this possibly seal the deal with Rashan Gary? I'd say yes, but with the top recruit in the country there's no such thing as a lock until the pen hits the paper. That being said, a Dwumfour commitment would be a bigger plus for the Wolverines than a Walker or any other prospective 2016 commitment at this point.

Browning: Add one more reason why five-star linebacker Baron Browning may be a legitimate target for the Michigan coaching staff going forward: his brother Barry played for Jim Harbaugh at Stanford.

"I'm familiar with Coach Harbaugh from his days with my brother," Browning said. "Michigan was one of those offers I was really hoping for. What was funny is that Coach Mattison told me yesterday that they had offered me last winter when he came by and that they had considered me an offered target the entire time. They're a great program with great academics."

Browning remains committed to Baylor, with most of the information being conflicting as to whether or not his pledge is solid or not. Look for Michigan to make a run at him.

McCaffrey: Received more intel that suggests the Wolverines are in really good shape for 2016 Top50 overall prospect and top quarterback target Dylan McCaffrey.

Michigan has put in by far the most effort here, as we've written, and he's not a kid who we believe is interested in following the legacy his brother is creating at Stanford. Instead, we see him as someone who will want to blaze his own path at a program of his choice and Michigan under Jim Harbaugh is the place we believe he will do that.

A great supplement to our intel is [link url=Interview: 2017 Quarterback Dylan McCaffrey Talks Harbaugh, Michigan Tradition"]this McCaffrey interview[/link] in which he speaks glowingly of Harbaugh and the Michigan program.

Bits
- I put in a 247Sports Crystal Ball on 2017 Top100 receiver Tarik Black to Alabama. I strongly believe they are his top school right now, so as long as he's a take for them, that's where I'm currently expecting him to go. Michigan is one of the few schools that could become a contender.

- Michigan is the early leader for 2018 in-state ATH Kalon Gervin after the Wolverines offered this week. He's a 2018 prospect, so we'll just leave it at that for now.

- We're placing our bet that Michigan's first junior day of the year will be on February 6th for the home basketball game against Michigan State. The Wolverines have been putting out invites for a prospective junior day the last month or so and it could be a good to great group of visitors if they can get some of the national names they're working to Ann Arbor.

- Another five-star in 2017 we keep hearing Michigan may push for is Graham (WA) Kapowsin offensive tackle Foster Sarell. We'd put his recruitment as a current Washington/Stanford battle right now, but the Wolverines reportedly intrigue him.

- Top50 overall athlete Devon Hunter continues to insist he will visit Ann Arbor sometime this spring. We remain in the "believe it when we see it" category, but there's no doubt Michigan would love to have him up.

Interview: 2017 Quarterback Dylan McCaffrey Talks Harbaugh, Michigan Tradition

We caught up with one of 2017's top signal-callers to see where the Wolverines stand in his recruitment.

Class of 2017 quarterback Dylan McCaffrey (Littleton, Colorado) may have a Heisman runner-up as a brother, but he is looking to carve his own path.

Dylan, the brother of Stanford star running back Christian McCaffrey, is one of the top quarterbacks in his class and is considered by some the frontrunner to be the signal caller of Michigan's 2017 class.

Maize 'n Brew caught up with McCaffrey this week to shed some light on his recruitment and where the Wolverines stand and his brother's impact on his path to college.

"He wants what is best for me, and to take my own journey. If the best fit is Stanford, he'll tell me. If it's not, he'll tell me, and he'll support me," he said.

His first visit to Ann Arbor came during his sophomore year. He reflected on his takeaways from that trip.

"It is awesome. Ann Arbor is great, and not many schools can contend with that community, or with Michigan's rich tradition," McCaffrey said.

He was back in town this past October for the game against Michigan State. Even though the result was not what Michigan wanted, McCaffrey still found the positives in the situation.

"I noticed how even after the tragedy of that loss, fans were cheering on after the game. No matter what they love their team," he said.

So, what is it about Michigan that sets them apart from other programs in his eyes?

"The community around the university isn't topped anywhere across the country," McCaffrey noted. "Their coaching staff just has so much NFL experience."

As much as McCaffrey loved the community and overall staff, he had specific thoughts on head coach Jim Harbaugh.

"No one out there is better than Harbaugh, maybe just as good, but no one is better," he said.

McCaffrey sees the fit at Michigan and likes how the staff makes adjustments and is able to get the best effort out of everyone.

"I love how (Harbaugh) adjusts. Look what he did with Colin Kaepernick. He gets the best out of his guys," McCaffrey said.

With basketball taking up a lot of time, the dual sport star will likely take his visits in spring.

"I'll head out for visits after basketball season in the spring, if I haven't already committed," McCaffrey said.

"I thought I would wait a lot longer, but recent events will lead to me likely making my decision sooner rather than later."

McCaffrey currently has no visits planned. He holds offers from Michigan, Nebraska, Colorado, UCLA and Duke, among others.

"Michigan, LSU and Alabama," he said. "I like Coach Harbaugh. He is a football fanatic."

LSU is the presumed favorite for Deculus, and have 100% of the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions. Michigan tight ends coach Jay Harbaugh will be at Cy-Fair next week to see Deculus and the nation's top 2017 tight end in Brock Wright.

Deculus is currently ranked 68th overall in the 2017 class according to the 247Sports Composite and holds offers from a wealth of programs.

LSU will be extremely to tough to beat Michigan is heavy in Texas right now:smugfavre:

Wilson, widely considered one of the top overall prospects in the 2017 class, has been on Michigan's radar for over a year at this point, and he attended the Wolverines' satellite camp in Houston last summer. LSU, USC, Alabama and Texas A&M are among the schools he's highly considering at this point.

Little, whose stock will likely rise up the recruiting rankings going forward, has a 247Sports Crystal Ball that is leaning towards Ole Miss, with Texas and Baylor among the programs in high consideration already.

Notes: Both prospects are relative longshot type players in my opinion, at least at this juncture, although Michigan is going to throw the kitchen sink at Wilson. With the Wolverines set to lose a bunch of production on the defensive line after the 2016 season, a pitch for immediate playing time would be a virtuous sell from Mattison and company. Still, he's the definition of a national recruit, and will have schools lining up for his services from now until National Signing Day next year.

And the mobile QBs can go play under Jim Harbaugh and be compared to Kaepernick and get a chance in the league as a QB or play under Urban and get your ass moved to RB/WR
