Michigan will be hosting the #1 overall prospect Rashan Gary on a final unofficial visit the weekend of January 22nd. This is something Kipp Adams and Keith Niebuhr touched on with Gary's mom a couple months ago, and it's coming to fruition obviously.

Worth noting...

1. Jordan Fuller will be on his official that weekend as well. Michigan originally looked to get both Fuller and Gary up on the 29th, right before National Signing Day, but had to "settle" for the 21st/22nd.

2. Donald Stewart will be in town too. Stewart's situation remains unclear to me with Dylan Crawford set to announce and Pie Young still on the board.

3. The new-ish piece of news here is that 2017 four-star linebacker Drew Singleton will also be on campus that weekend for the visit. I wouldn't rule out a verbal commitment from Singleton on this visit. My Crystal Ball has been on the Wolverines since April and this will be his fourth visit to campus in less than a year.

4. With Gary, nothing has changed on our end. "New" information can surface with interviews when he's in a public setting, but the true story remains the same: Michigan is in great shape for his signature on National Signing Day. A completely unnecessary unofficial visit late in the process is enough evidence on its own to prove that this is the case. The bigger question is whether or not Gary's situation may help Michigan with Jordan Fuller. That's something I can't really accurately answer right now.

Gary bringing a LBer friend with him:blessed:Btw seems OSU has the slight favorite for Fuller for now

Singleton film top 3 player in Jersey next year Michigan looking good again for alot of Jersey prospects 2017:blessed:Thanks Kyle Flood:mjlol:

247Sports Crystal Ball Forecast: Top100 CB to Michigan

Michigan Newsletter

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola Top100 cornerback David Long will make his college decision before Jan. 22.

“For the most part I always have my mind made up,” Long said Wednesday during the media hour at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. “I’m going to follow through with the schedule that I’ve given you guys with my visits and everything but my mind is kind of made up.”

In talking to various sources, I think Long’s mind is made up on Michigan.

With that, I put in a 247Sports Crystal Ball forecast in favor of the Wolverines.

“A happy balance,” Long said of his current leader without naming the school. His top three includes Michigan, Notre Dame and Washington. “Not necessarily the coaching staff but me being comfortable with the school and the program.”

Washington will get an official visit from Long the weekend of Jan. 15 and he said Jim Harbaugh will get the last in-home either Jan. 18 or 19. I wouldn’t be surprised if the process ended that night.

I continue to expect Michigan to get good news from another one of California’s best on Saturday when Top247 receiver Dylan Crawford announces during the game.

“That’s significant,” Long said. “To have somebody there that you’re close with that you know that you’d be out there with, that’s really big.”

The two talk often about the decision process.

“We definitely look forward to playing, if we can, with each other in college.”

Unless something changes on the official visit to Washington, I believe Long and Crawford will be playing together in college.

The 247Sports Composite ranks Long as the nation’s No. 7 cornerback and No. 65 player overall.

Crawford is the country’s No. 20 receiver and No. 113 player overall.

Michigan’s current 23-player class ranks No. 5 nationally according to 247Sports.

Does Michigan have more than the three known verbal commitments in Saturday's Army All American Bowl?

It appears that Brandon Peters, Jordan Elliott, and Mike Onwenu aren’t the only Army All Americans set to don the winged helmet.

Brandon Peters entered his senior season with his sights set on taking his team and his individual game to a higher level. When the curtain fell on his prep career he’d accomplished both. The four-star signal caller piloted his team to a 10-3 record and its first regional championship in a decade. En route to doing so he threw for 3,103 yards, 37 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. That earned him the distinction of being named the Gatorade player of the year in the Hoosier State. Best of all, though, was the improvement of his most important intangible quality.

“I got better with my leadership,” said Peters. “That was probably one of the biggest things. Throughout the year, my timing accuracy, and footwork, started to mesh a lot better. I’ve always been working on that. Just trying to get better at that. There is still more work to do. It’s getting better. It’s getting there.”

So too is his progression reading. That was an aspect of his game he specifically pointed to as one he’d be focused on.

“It’s getting a lot better,” said Peters. The game is getting a lot faster now than (it was in) high school. It’s going to be a lot of mental stuff that goes into it, but I just need to work hard and keep learning.”

Analysis
Good height and is continuing to fill his frame in. Is a good athlete who can run and escape pressure, but he also shows good awareness and feel in the pocket. Gets rid of the ball quickly and has the arm to make throws to the sideline and drive the ball downfield. As he gets bigger and stronger, that should only increase. Smart kid, tough, calm under pressure. Must continue to work on reading defenses and going through his progressions. - Trieu

That learning process is a lot less cumbersome when you have a great teacher, and that’s what Peters knows he has in Jim Harbaugh. He is now less than a week away from starting his Michigan career.

Said Peters, “I’m excited, man. I’m ready to get to work. I’m really excited. I get up there Sunday and I move in Monday and start classes, so I’m ready to work.”
He is already working on the Wolverines’ behalf as a recruiter, albeit an easy-going one.

“I’m not really talking, like pushing Michigan real hard,” he said. “I’m just getting to know them a little bit.”

That relationship building is especially important with a few of “them” because Peters already knows they will be joining him in Ann Arbor.

“There is one silent here, but I can’t say his name,” said Peters. “I might know two silents actually. I know two silents.”

“On the west team.”
