Yeah he'll have a chance to play right away now, and he is enrolling early. Him abd Austin Mack should be a good duo. Hopefully somehow Victor commits too. He is the wr i really want in this class. Gary commiting on nsd? Yall about to get a great one. :whew:
yeah Gary is NSD.He's coming up for another visit in a couple of weeks for a unofficial:lolbron:.I would be shocked if we lost him to any school at this point. Some worry about Clemson I don't see it his uncle lives down there but his connection to Michigan is too deep at this point this isn't a De'shawn Hand situation at all

Talked to an excellent source closer to the side of Samuels' recruitment last night, and the consensus is that this recruitment will become another Michigan and Florida State battle. Look for the Wolverines to push very hard for Samuels III throughout the process. I have moved him up to "Top Target" on the 2017 recruiting board.

"(Michigan) will be in his top 2," they said. "He has strong ties there now. That matters."

As of right now, there's no tangible reason to consider anyone other (Crystal Ball-wise) than Florida State, but Samuels will visit Michigan's campus multiple times throughout the process.

@Trust Me that Devin Bush Jr connection

That motherfukker had a pick six to stick the final dagger in my heart against my alma mater in the championship game last month. :mjcry:

Ninja stuff: Through somewhat deductive reasoning, Michigan may be looking in really good shape with Allen (TX) four-star defensive end target Levi Onwuzurike.

Our best intel throughout the process has pegged Washington as the biggest threat to the Wolverines for Onwuzurike's services (from Michigan's view), with Baylor on the outside looking in. However, with recent reports surfacing that Baylor may actually be the biggest threat, I did some digging on their end and was told that as of now, Baylor's staff is expecting Onwuzurike to leave the state to play college ball.

The end result there would point towards Michigan. I'm getting close to putting a 247Sports Crystal Ball on the Wolverines for Onwuzurike, but want to get a little more intel on Michigan's end before doing so.

Nauta/TE stuff: There are two things we've written on 2016 five-star Isaac Nauta throughout the week: One, we expect him to choose Georgia on Saturday at the Army game and secondly, our intel on the Michigan end suggests that they still believe there's a chance that they're the choice.

The fact that Georgia did not rush a hire at the tight end position suggests that there isn't a high level of concern on their end that he would commit elsewhere. Nauta has only spoken to his potential position coach once, and it sounds like it went well. Meanwhile, Michigan maintained contact with Nauta up until Tuesday, when he privately made his decision and is not talking anymore heading into Saturday.

Let's assume Nauta chooses Georgia. The next two targets on their board are the same ones that have been there for a bit now, as Tampa (FL) Berkeley Prep's Jacob Mathis and Nixa (MO) three-star Chase Allen are both being recruited relatively heavily. Someone in the VIP Chat yesterday asked if Michigan would go first come, first serve in this one, and I can confirm with certainty that it IS the case. With that in mind, provided Nauta chooses Georgia, I will put a 247Sports Crystal Ball on Chase Allen to Michigan on Saturday afternoon. I believe there's a chance he will commit on his official visit on the weekend of the 15th.

2017 package deals: I'm not a big fan of talking about potential "package deals" because most times, they don't come to fruition. However, a couple of them may actually exist within the in-state offers in the 2017 class in Ambry Thomas/Jaylen Kelly-Powell and Ja'Raymond Hall/Antjuan Simmons.

We covered what Simmons said about Hall earlier this week, but Thomas also had some interesting quotes regarding the idea of he and Kelly-Powell playing together in college. It's something we covered earlier in the process, but still sounds like a real possibility.

"We're family," he said. "We definitely would like to play with each other at the next level. It's something we talk about consistently."

What's interesting about that idea is that the two seem to list a variety of different schools, with Kelly-Powell looking to visit Stanford and Duke (examples), while Thomas is focused on seeing LSU, Tennessee and others. Among the common schools with both guys? Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan (Kelly-Powell does not hold a MSU offer). If both do play at the same school, I'd lean towards it being either Notre Dame or Michigan, with the Wolverines probably holding the slight edge.

Bits
- An under the radar player Michigan may pursue in the 2017 class is Jenks (OK) three-star tight end Reese Leitao. Michigan has been evaluating him, and he's expected to be at the Army Combine on Thursday.

- One four-star who really would like a Michigan offer is Clearwater (FL) Central Catholic four-star speedster CJ Cotman, who says he's been looking to get in contact with the staff for weeks. He did hear from the Wolverines on Wednesday, and an offer may be forthcoming.

- We didn't score any quotes from him at last week's Under Armour combine, but 2017 five-star defensive end Jarez Parks maintains a high interest in Michigan. Along with Joshua Kaindoh, Parks will be a major target at defensive end in the cycle.

- Speaking of Kaindoh, Michigan is in the early mix there as well. He's an IMG kid, but is originally from the Baltimore area, so coming back up north to play his college ball isn't going to be an issue. Again, I believe he and Parks will be two of the most targeted defensive players on their 2017 board.

Jordan Elliott’s phone is off for college coaches. That is, unless you work for Michigan.

The four-star Houston Westside defensive tackle committed to the Wolverines on Nov. 28, and since that time he’s cut off communication with all other programs, including Texas.

Elliott, who was previously committed to both Baylor and Houston, was a Texas lean once he dropped his Houston pledge. But with a late push, Jim Harbaugh and his staff were able to vault ahead of Texas for his services.

“Getting up there and being able to see it for myself,” Elliott said of the reason he ultimately chose Michigan. “They treat us right. It was a great experience. I’d spend for years there. My mom doesn’t care (about me being far) at all.”

Texas still attempts to reach out to Elliott, but he’s not responding to any messages (Elliott even showed me his phone for proof.) As for what turned Elliott off of Texas, the 6-foot-4, 306-pounder could only describe it as a “feeling” he had on his unofficial visit to Texas on Nov. 7 for the team’s game with Kansas.

Elliott also said he worried about if Charlie Strong would be there for the entirety of his college experience.

“I’ve been to Texas many of times, the last time I went there it really turned me off, and it didn’t feel the same,” Elliott said. “I don’t know what it was. It was just a feeling, I didn’t feel good. There’s also the stability. You never know. It’s true at any school. But at least with Coach Harbaugh he’ll stay until I’m gone. That’s for sure.”

Elliott said an official visit to Texas is “off the table” and his recruitment is totally shut down.

Originally, Elliott tried hard to convince a number of top Texas targets to come with him to Michigan. But with Jean Delance’s commitment to Texas and other in-state players leaning in other directions, it appears Elliott could be the only representative from the "Lone Star State" in the Wolverines class.

I've officially joined the run and have put in my 247Sports Crystal Ball on Los Angeles (CA) Loyola Top100 cornerback David Long.

On-site Crystal Ball choices are about as good as you're going to get, and the predictions of 247Sports national analysts Steve Wiltfong and Barton Simmons hold more weight than any right now, as they've been around these kids all week and are able to gather the buzz not only on their own, but between the recruits themselves.

My digging revolved more around the reports of there being two "silent commitments" at the game. There are only five true Michigan targets at the game: Isaac Nauta, Dylan Crawford, David Long, Lavert Hill and Donnie Corley. It was never going to be Corley or Nauta, and most are fully expecting Crawford to pledge to the Wolverines on Saturday (myself included).

That leaves Long and Hill. My initial instinct from covering Hill is that there's zero chance he would play his hand to any of the recruits in attendance outside of maybe Corley. Sure enough, I checked with a couple sources closer to Hill's camp and both said there's no way he'd leak a "silent" to anybody in attendance at the game. Michigan does remain in fine shape with him still based on the intel available.

That now leaves Long. He is up there with the Rashan Gary and Devin Bush Jr. types as far as how hard Michigan has recruited him. Mike Zordich, Greg Jackson, D.J. Durkin, Don Brown, Jim Harbaugh and even Sarah Harbaugh have played roles in helping sell the Wolverines to the Los Angeles prospect, who visited officially for the Michigan State game and tried unofficially visiting for the Ohio State game. Harbaugh came up with one of the most unique sells I've seen since covering recruiting, and it's something about Long's recruitment that has stuck with me:

"Coach said I can be a "do it all" guy for Michigan," he said. "What he said he meant by that was that I can be a difference maker for them on the field, and can be a difference maker for the Michigan brand and the program as a whole. It was really surprising to hear that from someone like Coach Harbaugh because I never really even looked at myself that highly. The staff as a whole just seems to be really excited about me and excited about what I could potentially bring to the program. Besides that talk and the football stuff, it was just learning more about me as a person and talking about life stuff."

Even with that in mind, I've been torn on Michigan and Washington, as have most who have covered this recruitment fully. However, he essentially told Steve Wiltfong this week that he has things wrapped up in his mind. With an in-home with Jim Harbaugh scheduled for shortly after his upcoming Washington official, it's hard not to put the pieces together and believe he's going to choose the Wolverines in the end.

Wolverine247 has learned that Michigan is beginning to feel some optimism about their eventual chances with Concord (CA) De La Salle four-star teammates Devin Asiasi and Boss Tagaloa.

According to a source at the US Army All-American game, Asiasi will not take an official to Alabama and is expected to official to Michigan instead. Tagaloa was already expected to take a visit to Ann Arbor sometime in January before making a final decision.

Are Crystal Balls forthcoming? Not yet on either prospect. However, there is a growing optimism that the teammates could eventually end up in Ann Arbor according to a source closer to the Michigan side of things.

Both Northern California prospects are very familiar with Jim Harbaugh during his tenure at both Stanford and in the NFL with the 49ers. The two have been consistently recruited throughout the process by tight ends coach Jay Harbaugh, and news has been sparse on the duo as they do not go on the record very often.

With the info I've obtained, I would feel safe in classifying this as a "situation to watch" going forward.
Seems strange if Elliot was going to Texas why is he recruiting for Michigan?:usure:

Crawford: Heading into tomorrow's Army game, it would be a major, major surprise if four-star wide receiver Dylan Crawford did not verbal to Michigan. The Wolverines have felt good in this race for a while, and all indications as of now are that he will add to what's become a strong wide receiver haul for the staff in 2016.

What will be worth watching going forward is whether or not he follows through on a couple visits. It sounds like Georgia, Miami (FL) and Washington are a trio of schools he may check out.

Naturally, this begs the question why he would verbally commit at this point in the process, but it's what the industry has become at this point. If he does pledge to the Wolverines, we have to operate under the assumption that it's where he will eventually sign.

Nauta: This one is the interesting one, as pretty much all believe the five-star tight end will commit to Georgia tomorrow during halftime of the game.

We've been writing this longer than anyone else, but there still remains a relative amount of optimism on Michigan's end in this one. The quote I got from a great source on the Michigan side sums up how people should prepare for his announcement:

"If he chooses Georgia, I won't be surprised," they said. "If he chooses Michigan, I will be mildly surprised, but not shocked."

I was the first recruiting interview Nauta ever did in the process when Brady Hoke's staff made him the youngest/earliest offer the program had ever put out. He's very close with his dad, who is located in Georgia, but has strong ties with his family in Michigan in my neck of the woods (GR/West Michigan area). Both naturally would prefer him to be closer to each other, and it's unclear how much of a factor those things will be because he's gone radio silent the last four days.

My opinion on this recruitment is that it's a good sign for Michigan that they've even gotten this far. They caught a couple breaks in this recruitment (Richt firing, etc.), but when Nauta decommitted from Florida State, I would have pegged him as arguably the safest bet in the country to commit to Georgia. The fact that Michigan has him thinking is a real testament to how well the staff has recruited him, and how well they've been able to sell production at the tight end position so quickly.

Corley: Only covering this one because people will ask, but I'm firmly in the "eat a hat" category if Detroit (MI) King receiver Donnie Corley commits to Michigan tomorrow.

I'm keeping my Crystal Ball on Michigan State heading into the announcement, but Ohio State has early playing time available at the position, while Michigan State already has three quality wide receiver commitments in their class.

I still don't expect Corley's decision to have much effect on Lavert Hill, but if Corley chooses Ohio State, it would almost assuredly shut the door on Michigan State as a factor for Hill.
