Lol so true. Landry Fields got lucky and was tossed a life saver by Toronto. NY made Lin and he decided to get greedy. If we lose him such is life. Im more concerned with the abundance of old nikkas we got on our squad. :beli:

We replaced Toney Douglas, Mike Bibby, Jared Jeffries with Jason Kidd, Raymond Felton, & Marcus Camby.

Let that marinate for a second.

i already dont give a shyt. it hit me as a shock last night, but im already over it. lets be real, we're the knicks, he would have probably been a bust and we would have been laughed at for years... well i guess that could still happen if he's the real deal, but still, dont care too much

I dont get it cant we match the offer then re-negotiate? I mean cant we just let that contract reach that part and then renegotiate the contract?

Nope, here's why:

A contract for four or more seasons can be renegotiated after the third anniversary of its signing, extension, or previous renegotiation (if the previous negotiation increased any season's salary by more than 4.5%). Contracts for fewer than four seasons cannot be renegotiated. A contract cannot be renegotiated between March 1 and June 30 of any year.

Only teams under the cap can renegotiate a contract, and the salary in the then-current season can be increased only to the extent that the team has room under the cap (and cannot increase the player's salary beyond the maximum salary). A renegotiation can only be used to provide a salary increase -- players can't take a "pay cut" in order to create more cap room for the team.

Yo.... This is BS that Lin was just trying to get more money at the last minute, but wanted to play with the Knicks all along. If that was the case, he would have just thrown a couple more million on the first couple of years, or even just the second year. But ALL OF IT was piled on the third year, the specific year that would cause hell for the Knicks salary cap.

This dude went to Harvard... He knew what he was doing.

shyt has nothing to do with money, Dolan already is paying the tax

You have no idea why Dolan might not want to fork over an extra 35-40 million in a single season on account of one player who's not top 15 at his position?
