But, how do you reach your recommended daily allowances for vitamins and minerals and especially fibre naturally.

How can you reach 38g of fibre which is the minimum for men.

I can easily meet 50g of fibre everyday. How could you do that eating low carb vegetables. That's like eating 6lbs (2.6kg) of broccoli or spinach a day to meet fibre requirements. I know they'd come from a mixture of sources but 2.6kg of vegetables each and everyday sounds ridiculous and expensive.

100g of spinach in the UK costs £1 so I'd need to spend upwards of £26 everyday to not have my arse turn into a faucet tap.

I know fibre, fat and protein keep you more satiated than simple carbs which is the crux for the keto diet but it doesn't seem feasible in anyway you look at it in the long term on a financial level and an emotional spirit level.

I don't want to be broke, tired and hungry just to remain relatively healthy.

IDK man. Imma pass on this keto diet.

The only thing that works for me to keep the water retention down without reducing my carb intake at all is Intermittent Fasting and eating all my macros within a 6-8/9 hour window. I just have two big meals and a snack before bed which looks like

10am Breakfast:
  • 100g High Bran cereal (Kellogs All Bran)
  • 50g Flame raisins
  • 250ml Coconut milk (fortified)
  • 10g (dehusked) Sunflower seeds

4pm/5pm Dinner:
  • 150g Bulgur Wheat
  • 400-500g of meat (beef/chicken/salmon/tuna/lean pork/goat/lamb)
  • 15g-20g og Rapeseed oil for pan frying or grilling the meat
  • Any fruit and/or veg to meet my RDA of Vitamin A and Vitamin C for the day (Cantaloupe/spinach/kale/oranges/carrots/peas etc)
Snack:
  • Leftovers from dinner so that I don't go over macros for the day.

You see I can eat anywhere from 125-130g of carbs a day and function properly and not feel tired. But, giving my stomach time to digest works the best for naturally allowing your body time to process the toxins and water retention in your body so you can piss it out efficiently.

There's no need to starve yourself and be constipated just to lose weight and have it all come back if you don't stop the fad diet because all you're doing is losing mostly water weight.

There is a reason why you can only lose 1-3lbs of fat a week and it's all simple maths.

You could only truly lose that much weight if you were bedridden or had some kind of bowel autoimmune disease.

Like I said, more power to you if it works in anyway for you but the method behind it is flawed and not sustainable.
Nuts( variety of them) , strawberries, avacado, spinach or any other green veggies all have fibre. What do u mean how do u get your minimum fibre in? :dwillhuh:

U meet ur vitamins and minerals thru veggies breh. And if ur short, use a supplement. Its not that hard.

Theres science behind the keto diet. Honetsly the only people who knock it are lifters cuz they swear by carbs. U should look up doctors who vouche for it like dr. Berg on youtube. He can explain the whole proccess and benefits to it. Its not for everyone, i agree. Hell honestly its not for me but i know im not gonna knock it because i tried it and expeirienced it myself. Imo, thats the best way to determine something. Give it a two week trial and see for yourself :manny:

It's not that I'm against it, it's just that the ideology behind it is flawed.

In that I mean it's not bad way of dieting but it isn't necessary to lose the weight vs doing it through a regular diet.

Doing Keto for 1-2 weeks from my research will make you lose 7-12lbs roughly which is mostly water weight and obviously some fat since you are consuming food at a caloric deficit.

You'll exercise for the exact same amount of time as you would on a normal diet except on keto you are essentially keeping off those extra 8-12lbs in water weight.

So when you come off the keto diet and go back to your normal diet you will put that 8-12lbs of water wieght back on.

You will only gain the weight back if you eat over your maintenance which is easy to do with simple carbs in any form since simple carbs lack the macros to keep humans satiated. Simple carbs lack fibre, protein, fat and vitamins and minerals such as processed wheat, sugar etc.

So, it would make literally no difference whether you lost the weight through dieting normally or through keto. In fact you can keep the water weight off slightly by incorporating Intermittent Fasting whilst meeting your macros and eating as much carbs as you desire. I can get anywhere from 100-200g of carbs on any given day and have the energy to function properly.

You are putting in the exact same amount of effort because it is essentially calories in vs calories out to lose, maintain or gain weight. You'll still lose the fat. You would have the exact same body composition if you lost [an arbitrary number of] 15 lbs of fat through a normal diet.

You see what I'm saying?

I know it's just another weight loss tool but it isn't one that does anything different than just simply eating less and being happy.

I listen to Stone Cold's podcast and here's an excerpt from last year:

Basically, Stone Cold just uses it to lose weight to reach a goal he doesn't use it in his ordinary life after the goal was met.

You could achieve the vascular look just through Intermittent Fasting eating within an 8-9 hour window.

I been back on carbs for two weeks now and havent put any weight back on. But like i said, its not for everyone and ur right, u can lose weight with carbs. But the ideology behind it is to use fat as fuel not sugar as ur main source. Keto dieters believe its healthier that way which makes sense if its true. My father in law lives off this diet because hes diabetic. He no longer needs his meds or blood sugar checked and his doctor was against it at first up until recently where his blood work came back good. So i mean its not a false ideology but its also not the ends all of diets either.

I agree. Keto just seems like a lot of work -- eating should be simple which this diet is not.

Oh, and for me when I eat too much fat (which the keto diet promotes) I get a bad case of acne like a teenager and gassy.

Intermittent Fasting does work though and requires no mumbo jumbo just literally eating your macros within a window.

IF also helps digestion/bloatedness, remove water retention, regulate blood sugar levels and satiety among others as you are not thinking about food constantly especially when you've prepared a diet that works for you giving your body to fully process and excrete the toxins in you.

Thanks though, I almost jumped out the window on this diet. I don't think I could be happy eating so little carbs.

Yea dont sweat it. I was in the same boat as you just last year. Couldnt see me cutting my carbs. I only did it cuz nurses and doctors and my job were on it and praising it and i hit a plateu and they reccommended me to give it a try. So i said fukk it, and did it for 17 days. Went from 14% body fat to 11%.

Oh i also did IF while on keto so i was cutting like a muthafukka lol.

I do IF without even knowing it due to my schedule. I do the 8/16 routine.

I’ve done keto in the past but this is first time I’ve actually stuck with it. Most people say the induction phase is around two weeks. I will have gone a month as of this upcoming Monday without a carb up. I get my carbs from lettuce and test strips show im in steady ketosis. Went from 304 when I started to 282 right now.

I have two questions: 1. My muscles don’t feel or look as flat as they have in the past. Why is that? Is it because of body changes now that I’ve gotten older.

2. How soon should I start doing carb ups? I’m ok so far and haven’t gone crazy yet.

1. If ur getting adequate protein then yours muscles wont be effected.

2. Depends. People only carb up because they lack energy in their lifting. Otherwise no need to carb up until u reach your goal

Also, this just came to me when I was in the gym today is that first of all it has been scientifically proven for fat to boost estrogen in humans which is extremely good for women with their menstruation cycle and shyt (:scust:), but the keto diet promotes consuming fats in extraordinary amounts in comparison to proteins and carbs. So for males that are on the keto diet wouldn't doing this diet in the long term affect you and make you grow moobs and look soft? Males are naturally supposed to have little estrogen and with the high amounts of fats this would wreak havoc in the biology of men.

Couple that with those who consume soya products especially.

I was thinking of giving it a go after all for 9 days starting this weekend with a 48hour fast and doing a full 7 days on keto just to see how much water weight/fat I can drop before my job interview next Thursday 22nd.

This keto diet seems to be a diet more so beneficial to women than men in the long term, but for short term goals it is okay for any gender.

I can't be having moobs, a jiggly soft ass and no sex drive at 27:mjlol::picard:

When you look into it more you will see that some things good aren't for everyone :noah:

Doesnt work that way for men. In men, fat boosts your testerone levels which is why u have energy up the ass in ketosis. I had to look that shyt up because after the first week my energy levels were thru the roof.

Well, I'm on the train now.

I'm a novice when it comes to this macro and shyt. It's been five days and lost some weight but it might be water, but still I feel good. I feel less heavy. Of course, I'm dealing with that leto-flu. Very low energy.

However, I want to know how d o you deal with protein and fat ? I understand that carbs must be around 20/30 g a day, but what about protein and fat ? Someone can help me on this one ?
