Seems like the transitions were smoother without joe trying to overpower them

Fans wouldn’t want that. When Joe went on vacation and it was the three of them, with Mal sitting down on the couch, it was a good pod. This recent one was weird because Joe was in the room but not saying anything. They tried but it didn’t work well.
