GRODT sold 12 million copies worldwide in its first year of release. So yes, it did have more impact than an album that has taken 8 years to reach the same milestone.
I'm not gonna say what's what regarding this undefined term "impact" but grodt's latest (riaa, US) certification was 2020 and that was 9x.
That's 17 years to 9x, Kendrick about to do 9x in less than half that time.

But of course, like man is saying. We consume music in completely different ways.

One important thing though is that Kendrick has been hot for 13-14 years straight. 50 fell off after 4-5 year.

Correct, Grodt went diamond in 2021. Meaning that if kendrick keep doing as good as he did in the last years, damn will reach diamond in 2 or 3 years, that's about twice as fast as GRODT.

And you're right, Kendrick's audience is growing, damn has been selling even better in the later years.

GRODT sold 12 million copies globally by March 2004. We consume music differently but if you interacted with a wide range of people in ‘03, you know 50 gained widespread fans across the board. I grew up around rich white kids and their stay at home mom’s became fans of 50. A lot of this was also because of 50’s persona, timeless hooks and women considering him physically attractive across the board. He connected with people across the board, from the hood to Beverly Hills. Someone I know saw a rich older white man in ‘03 driving a Bentley convertible listening to PIMP. And that’s not even including how massively popular he became (and remains) in Europe, including in non-English speaking countries which was groundbreaking for a hip hop artist at the time. That is not happening with Kendrick Lamar.
