PM me your email address for that invite. For strictly HTPC use you can even get buy with Celerons. An SSD isn't necessary but if all your media resides on a server I don't see why not go with one. In some cases SSD's / 2.5" HDD's are all you can fit in some of these SFF cases.

Anyone else that needs an hd-mkv invite just hit me up, I have plenty of them to give out.
I need one breh

Depending on what you want to do for most htpc setups i3 is fine

You usually need a TV tuner card to record shows, your better having your htpc running something called sick beard or couch potato (Google them)

So this is what I mean about different information posted....those are 2 different processors classes. Would a Celeron processor work flawlessly if you are streaming Plex to another device? How would they handle any possible transcoding?

Edit: Anybody have any experience with these type of SSD hybrids?

My nikka, you got to spread them wings. If you don't like what the breh's on the coli are recommending, there are a dozen more places you can get info from. Try OCN or reddit's forums or better yet Google the Gawd. A Roku pretty much has a phone CPU and can run Plex fine. Do you really think you'd need much more?

I like what you guys are recommending just asking for clarification. I don't really know much about PCs (I can build one though). I thought that if plex needed to covert the file you are steaming for the receiving device it did the conversion on the PC the media is stored on. Just asking are celerons capable of doing that or do you need to spend the extra 50 on the i3...unless I am wrong and the Roku is doing the conversion itself.

Right now my main pc hosts all my files....it has an i5 so I know that is overkill.

Your i5 would be doing the heavy work. To keep it simple whatever is on the receiving end of its work would be doing pretty much nothing. That is why mobile devices, rokus, etc can get by with Plex. They are just displaying the files after the work is done.
